" I'm giving up; I'm giving up s l o w l y I'm blending in so you don't even k n o w me. Apart from this whole w o r l d that shares my fate. " - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/b]ichard struggled to sit up, forehead wrinkling as Superboy spoke. He leaned back against the headboard and rolled his shoulders as gently as he could muster. The worry in the boy's voice made him sigh. Sometimes, he wished M'gann couldn't read his mind from only a couple miles off. "I'm feelin like a million bucks," he joked, "thanks man; I'm kinda sore, but I'll be spiffed up and kicking butt again in no time." He looked out the window, tilted his head against the headboard, and pressed the phone to his cheek. "Yeah. There were ninjas, man; ninjas trained to kick my ass. It wasn't just the usual overwhelmed. It was uber-overwhelmed. I felt like a master overthrown by his old students, or something." He murmured. "There's something going on, Supes. Something weird. I want to talk to all of you about it when I get more evidence to prove I'm not just looney on sleeping pills and vikadin, but soon." With a yawn, he stretched out his legs and wrinkled his nose. "It's a beautiful day. Maybe you should take M'gann out somewhere, like the lake. She'd love that. All girls do." He said with a grin, aiming to upturn the other boy to at least a stutter. A small beep rang in his ear. Putting his phone on speaker to keep talking to Supie, he took his phone from his cheek to read Wally's text. He rolled his eyes. Ha frickty ha. What do u do in skool? Lift skrts? kwl . . thy'r sore, bt fine. . I cn't wait 2 gt out of ths bed. After he'd sent that back, he out his phone off speaker and pressed it back to his ear. Yeah, he was a nerd, but he was a hot nerd. His grades were as perfect as his record and his record as perfect as his social life. He did nothing after school, but he had plenty of "friends." Ok, he didn't consider them as close as the team, but they were on the same social level as he was, and they at least had classes and girls to talk to. And he had girls to flirt with. The only problem was the mental part. . . he was, for the most part, a genius. A hacker, a mathematician, a straight A pecan. They were just. . . average kids. He envied them enough for being able to be so irresponsible, but he knew he had a future completely 180 from what there's was, and respected that. . . fort he most part. He got frustrated with girl drama, and had only fought in locker rooms, away from adult eyes, but kids knew not to bull shit to him. There was a line you cross with attention getting, and if you wanted to play that card, never play on Richard's table. There was enough ice on the side for him to freeze you to metaphorical death if need be. He was tough, popular, and smart. Now all he needed to do was get into high school. [/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - " I'm begging you to be m y escape. (No prob, Chika~ :3)
Conner smiled gently with the reassuring tone in Robin's voice. However, when he started telling him about ninjas trained to fight him so well, and how peculiar it all was, he lost his smiled again. "You're saying they knew how to fight you precisely?" He frowned for a moment. "Well, we'll look into it once you come back. That doesn't sound normal." He was thinking for a while, silent. Though the next time Robin spoke, he brought up something Conner hadn't thought of yet. M'gann.
Right then, a bright rosy blush ran right over his face, and he looked up to the ceiling. "C-Come on, Robs. Don't tease me." He forrowed his brow. "... But... Ah, nevermind. THink about yourself and not my love-life, jerk." he joked he hated to admit it, but it was true. M'gann would love this weather. These breezy days always made her smile. Suddenly, he heard Kid Flash shout loudly, declaring his arrival. It made him jump slightly, and spin around with the phone still on his ear, and that blush still on his face. "... Uh. Hi. You scared the crap outta me." He smirked slighty, still surprised by the sudden noise. He didn't really know why, he should have gotten used to it by now. He turned back around and returned to his conversation with Robin, "So how many days do you think you'll be down?"
(EDIT: Fixed somethings to try and make this Superboy meld a little more with the Young Justice one. :I Difficult at times, when the Comicverse!Superboy wouldn't have any problems with Miss Martian's mind-reading. xD He'd be wary, but Superboy doesn't really snap at anyone in the comics, especially not girls. So that is gonna have to be different.
Therefore, this Superboy will be nervous around her, and try and close off his thoughts to her, but just be more silent than snappy.)

" I'm giving up; I'm giving up s l o w l y I'm blending in so you don't even k n o w me. Apart from this whole w o r l d that shares my fate. " - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/b]ichard nodded as Superboy asked about the ninjas and bit his lip as he thought about it. Whoever they were up against knew them. Like, really knew them. Their fighting style, weaknesses, and how they thought. They had enemies inside their heads. . that scared him the most. Because that meant none of their secrets. A grin slowly spread across Rob's face as he heard the other boy stutter, and could picture the blush on his face. He cackled like the Joker (with half the malice) and covered his eyes with his free hand, "Supes, come on, I'm on my sickbed. At least let me have a little fun," he giggled, "even though I just wanted to hear you stammer, I am serious. Take her somewhere. You guys are roommates - teammates. Bond." He suggested with a shrug. "Let her inside your head a little more than she already is, and try to see into hers. The more you know the better prepared you'll be to fight with and protect each other. What could hurt?" He lay back and remembered that lesson from Batman. There had been a lot of rebellious teenage angst involved, but when it was all explained, he'd realized just how close they'd become after it was all over. Stuff like that was important, and meant a lot to him for just that reason. He shifted his hand on the cellphone. "Pfft. I'm fine, Just thinking of it as I'm strapped to my bed - alone, for the record - for a bit; I heal fast, so I'll be back before you and M'gann even think about flirting." He teased. When he heard Wally arrive he laughed and shook his head. "Tell Wally to take it down a notch, or else Batman might consider building us a much smaller, wooden base somewhere in his backyard to work from. Can't have us disturbing such a deathly peace, now can he?" He drawled sarcastically. When Supes asked him how many days he'd be out, he shrugged, making a face at the ceiling. "Like I said, I heal fast as it is, and Batman's got this super weird medicine that heals and makes you feel like invincible like, as soon as you get smashed. I'd say within the week I'll be back in uniform and kicking ass again." It was true. Experimental medicine meant for American soldiers invented just a few years ago, it was well tested by now and being passed by the FDA as they spoke. Batman had connections, and the duo benefited from man's work even more because of it. Hey, they didn't have super powers - just a strong pair of hands, a fast pair of legs, and a good head on their shoulders. They heeded all the help they could get to keep them going. Only human came with its downsides, too, just like being a super did. Conner listened quietly, walking back to the table and plucking his sunglasses up off the table. He walked past Wally, leaving him to chat with the other Young Justice members. He needed to sneak off to some place a little more quiet. The library was empty at the moment, he hoped. M'gann was usually in there, and if she was, he'd have to sneak away and leave her to read. Fortunately she wasn't, and Conner walked over and took a seat in one of the easy chairs just in time for Robin to claim his privilege to tease him while injured. He let out a joking sigh through his nose and closed his eyes with a smile. "Alright, fine, fine. I will okay? I think she's busy with something in the lab right now, though. I haven't talked to her today."
"Good to hear you'll be feeling well soon, though." He wasn't sure about those 'super weird drugs', but Batman probably knew what he was doing and who he dealt with, so it probably was fine. He crossed his legs and reached his hand out onto the table, grabbing a book that caught his eye. "Since when have we ever owned any books by Jack Ryder? Isn't it kinda the super-hero trope to hate that guy?" The cover was plain, and didn't bare the face of Ryder, which seemed odd for some reason. He always seemed the type to get as much time in front of the camera as possible. He perked a brow at the title, "The Vigilante's Nemesis... Whatever that means." Maybe it was something Batman had left. He always had a fascination with people against vigilantes.

" I'm giving up; I'm giving up s l o w l y I'm blending in so you don't even k n o w me. Apart from this whole w o r l d that shares my fate. " - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/b]ichard shrugged understandingly, "Mk," he replied to Conner's mention of Miss M. She was a girl, after all, even through her alien and super gal guise; she liked what most girls liked, give or take a few things. No girl was the same, but it only took some experimenting to figure them out (at least enough to buy them their favorite flower). Robin was abruptly reminded of the call he'd gotten from before and flushed a crimson across the bridge of his nose. Katerina, the school's top ginger, was a very popular addition to Gotham Academy. As a gymnast, an avoidance of the preps because of her lack of fake-ness, and the captain of the tennis team, she had been one of the few girls that caught his eye during his school days. She had a grace about her that just struck him. Walking in a perfectly straight line down the hall, her long, pretty ginger hair falling down her back, sky-blue eyes blazing; she amazed him. Her pale skin seemed to glow under the florescent lights and she had barely a dash of - his favorite - freckles over the bridge of her nose. There wasn't a smile she shot his way that didn't pierce his heart. . . and she was the only one who could actually make his knees quake when she was close by. "Thanks." He shook his head and rubbed his eyes, pinching the skin between his eyebrows for a moment, waiting for his blush to fade. That call had been a huge surprise. She'd texted him on occasion, but scarcely simple conversation or homework advice; no one really called him. He was sort of an untouchable. Avoided contact with most friends as he did. But not an hour after Bruce sent out the notice to his school that he was hurt did her call come. It might explain a lot since her mother was the principal, but why would the topic of his incapacitation even come up with them? Feeling as giddy as he did, he gulped to think how easily his business-like manner with women was shattered by just her voice alone. He listened to Supie ask about a book, and tried to relax. "Jack Ryder? Oops. Thought we flushed all those out of there a year ago; I'm pretty sure he lies in places you'd never guess in those books, and once Batman found out there was no stopping his tyranny. But maybe Aquaman or someone hid something they didn't want to be thrown out." He suggested, rubbing the back of his neck helplessly. He'd never read one himself, and wasn't really intending to, unless the time arose in class or if it pertained to their mission. Richard read a lot but he stuck to action and murder as genres - safer, more experience. Katerine had just called to wish him well, but there was a flirt in her tone he hadn't missed. His heart swelled three sizes just thinking about it. As soon as he got back, he vowed, he'd talk to her again. Really talk to her. . . and possibly invite her out for dinner after a tennis match. [/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - " I'm begging you to be m y escape. Conner shrugged and put it back on the table, "Should I be ashamed that I've laughed at his late-night show? Liberal snobs are entertaining to me, for some reason." He put his legs up on the table and crossed them at the ankles, relaxing into the chair. Now that he thought about it, he recalled Superman having spoken about Jack Ryder. He was probably the most outspoken about his dislike for the man, but only for that one reason: He wanted vigilantes to come out and reveal their secret identities, and called them cowards for not doing so.
Maybe he didn't understand it, not having a true secret identity himself. He was born out of a test tube, and named Superman. He always thought of himself as a Super-soso first, not Kon-El, not Conner Clark. He wished he did. He wished he had a normal head, but he was made to be a superhero first, and a college boy second. He furrowed his brow and scratched his ear, trying to mentally shrug the thoughts off, which made a lul in the conversation he wasn't aware of. A good, five second lul.

Having spent some time in the kitchen chatting with M'gann, talking about how utterly delicious she and her batch of now-nonexistent cookies were, Wally had gone to his room, checked his e-mail and how phone. Nothing had come from Robin since that last message joking with skirt lifting, a small reference to an incident about 3 months ago, where Wally on a mission had to lift a couple 100 skirts in Spain since an assumed terrorist was said to have a bomb around her leg, a odd place to have a bomb really, but who as Kid to complain? He was a healthy 15 year old after all.
Closing his red laptop he zipped out of the room and quickly found Superboy in the library. He didn't spend much time in here himself, having more than enough hours of studying in school, but he actually liked it in here. The library was fairly big and sported 6 big comfortable chairs of the type Wally remembered his grandpa used to sit in, all with a table on the side. The walls that weren't covered with shelves with stacks of books and newspapers, were the same raw cool looking rock as the rest of the cave, but somehow the deep warmth of the brown shelves and the dust from the oldest of the books made the cold stone seem almost welcoming and comfortable. Yes, Kid Flash liked it in here. He liked the room, just not the books.
Slowing down he skiddded to a halt besides Superboy, answering the question that was obviously meant for Robin on the phone: "Naw, no worries Supey, Flash and I cry tears of laughter when watching that show" and added a "you still talking to Rob? ask him if we should come over now"
((Urgh, sorry it's so short, need to get back in the game, get up and running, before they'll get longer. oh I have so many bad puns in me today >D))

" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/b]ichard looked around his room. It was the same room he'd occupied for quite a few years now; how many had it been? He came here when he was. . seven? So, six years? Crazy stuff. This place had always been secure, no matter who tried to burn down the house or break in - the bullet proof glass and fire retardant paint on everything helped loads with that. He chuckled as Supey spoke about the Jack Ryder show. "No way; we all crack up watching that. Just ask Wally." He tucked an arm behind his head, "Look, the guy isn't half bad, and he knows his opinions and the stuff to back them up just fine. But all this free identity thing with us vigilantes gets under every hero's skin. I mean, we spend all our lives trying to fit in, and keep justice, and peace at the same time. All our privacy would be gone. We'd have to change how we operate everything, and spend our money boosting security to keep crazy fans and even more crazy psychos from trying to get into our houses and kill us while we sleep. When we do sleep." He shrugged. "It's a lot of stress we don't need to fulfill what the guy wants to happen, so it doesn't happen. That's basically it."Richard smirked as he hear Wally burst in over the phone halfway through his own explanation. "Tell the windbag to can it. Him and Flash laugh at everything that's liberal." He teased. "But yeah, I'm a bit loopy here, but fully awake. You guys should be able to drop by if you want." He sighed. "Just remember to take M'gann to the park today." He reminded Supey with a grin. [/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - " I'm begging you to be m y escape. Connor stayed surprisingly still as the trademark gust of wind followed after Wally's stop. Despite his hair being ruffled and sent partially to the side, he simply fixed it was a smile on his face. "Glad to know I'm not alone, then." He shrugged. He waited for Wally to finish, then said to the phone, "I assume you heard that." He listened to Robin's answer. While doing so, he gestured for Wally to sit, pulling the phone away from his ear and turning on the speaker so that both of them could hear the answer.
He chose to ignore the M'gann comment rather casually. He knew that if Wally saw him being nervous about it, he'd never heard the end of it on the trip over there. "Sounds good to me." He nodded, looking at Wally as he stood up. "What time is best for you? Don't want to drop in while you're eating dinner or something." He rubbed the back of his neck, loosening the muscles that had tensed while he had kept the phone to his ear. He didn't know why he had chosen to hold it there, either. He could have just set the phone down on the table and listened just as well with his super hearing. His ear certainly wished he had, now being sore from having been pressed against hard plastic for so long.

Following the nonverbal suggestion, Wally sat down on the armrest of Superboy's chair, feeling the soft material dip under his weight. He leaned in to keep his balance, and just a bit more to annoy the older hero. And then as soon as he had gotten himself comfortable, only barely able to make out M'gann's name and then shrugging it off, Superboy stood, making Kid Flash loose his balance and dump into the chair very ungracefully. "OUF.. haha Man, give a guy a warning? and when are we leaving?
Smiling brightly at his teammate he got up from the chair and straightened himself out, adjusting his goggles without really thinking about it. That seemed like a habit he had developed, but he guessed it was only fueled by how much he cared for them. Well.. cared might be the wrong word, but they were on the high end of the list of things he liked about his costume, right under 'The open scalp thing that let's my har flow in the wind' in fact, and that was quite an achievement, should he say so himself.
((GOD!! I'M SO SORRY FOR THE SUCKYNESS OF THIS POST?!!??!))

" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/b]ichard nodded as Supey said he was glad he wasn't alone. Since the message wasn't directly stated towards them, but towards their mentors, it was difficult for their generation of heroes to take such horrible offense - well, some did, but still, most didn't - and even though they could see through their disgust to see why Ryder would want something like that, it didn't mean they had to agree with it. Being directly taught by some of the greatest heroes in American history instilled in them knowledge that whoever Ryder was preaching to had severely been starved of. Opinions were important, and words flew very often, but sometimes it took agreeing to disagree, to get anything accomplished towards peace. Richard yawned. "I'm ready for you guys now. Dinner isn't for a couple hours, the maids are doing their rounds, and the weather is fine. Just tell Wally to refrain from lifting any black skirts. Bats might beat his head in if any of these girls quit. He's become quite attached." He joked, chuckling. Like Batman would get too attached to anyone, let alone any group of anyones. He lay back, cradling his ribs gingerly, and shut his eyes, still holding the phone to his ear. As far as he was concerned, if one of the maids had super healing powers to speed up his speedy recovery, and nice legs, he would be happy.
