Jolt found himself facing what should have been an easy decision, he loved his brother but he was hesitant toward the idea of standing up to an alien seven times his size. He gulped, but he knew that morally, it would be best to support his twin.
"Look, Lobo," he started "you're pretty awesome, but being awesome's sidekick doesn't make it okay to leave behind a sibling. I'm helping Shocks whether you like it or not and there' only one way for me to do that." He turned toward Maurice, trying to hold a firm stance. Jolt was brash, headstrong, and suddenly having to make an intelligent decision without the guidance of his brother scared him, but he spoke anyways. "You! Mister Dracula wannabe! I know you have connections with that fat lizard, so prepare to get some serious butt whoop!"
The elder at this time was far too busy trying not to look down. He had no intention of dying at an age so young, in fact, two months ago he had no intention of ever talking to a dragon. He calculated his options quickly in his brain, but even then, the possibility of coming out of the situation unscathed was slim.
"Whether I make it or not, you'll still be injured," he attempted to say in a heroic manner, voice shaking "and whether or not I die... I'm bringing you down regardless. I'm giving you twenty seconds." He knew that in reality, she had control of the situation. He looked down, gulping at how small the buildings appeared, but his hopes grew as he noticed that his brother could possibly be coming up with a way to save him. He inwardly prayed that it was so, but looked back toward Krepta, trying to read her expression. "Besides," he smirked "I bet you my twin started getting his priorities straight by now."

Krepta's eyes narrowed. "And if, in those twenty seconds, I decide to drop you?" Her grip loosened, allowing him to slip down some, and leaving his legs dangling high above Gotham. "I've been injured before, Sparks. I'll be injured again. I'll heal and live to fight another day. You won't. I'm crazy kid, and you'll do best to remember that. Crazy people are dangerous." Her gaze did, however, follow his, glancing down at his brother on the ground. She knew Maurice would probably be okay. He was tough-- and sometimes, she thought, just as crazy as her. However, threatening her friends pissed her off a little. Her friends were the one thing she held dear in the world. The brat could annoy and threaten her all he wanted, but the moment he went after her friends--- well, the gloves were off. "He'd better have his priorities straight," she growled. Her voice was low and angry, and those reptilian eyes burned with the reflecting lights of the city far below, glittering with black rage. "Because if he harms a hair on Maurice's head, I'll kill you, and then I'll kill him. You'll die up here, quickly. Lucky for you. I'll kill him slowly though. Bit by bit, and I'll make him watch." Fangs flashed and clicked sharply in the darkness as she spoke, the bear-trap clap of her jaws punctuating every threat. It was hard to tell if she was bluffing or not, but she was angry for sure. She let him slip a little more. "I won't even give Lobo down there a chance to have his shots, because there won't be anything left." She circled around again through the air, and dipped just into earshot of the three. "I'm not someone you want to push, Sparky. I'm not like other heroes. I'm not even sure I am a hero anymore. What I do know is that I'm sick and tired of your little punk asses harassing me, and that this is going to end one way or another tonight." She swooped over the three, holding him tightly out in front of her. "Call him off, Sparky. Make the smart choice that won't get you killed. This fight was over before it began and you know it. You're outnumbered and outmatched. Call him off."

(( Yeowch I'm not getting replies in the email either! NaNoWriMo is kicking my butt.))
Maurice just watched...everything. He watched it unfold before him without making a peep. He sheilded his eyes from the dust whipped up by the dragon's wings when she took off. Staring after her, he, again, wondered what in the world he'd gotten himself into. He watched the aerial argument with an increasingly worried frown on his face until Jolt spoke to him.
He'd actually forgotten the kid was there.
"Wh-hey, now, I aint bothered you." Like that had ever stopped anyone from attacking him. The vampire squared his shoulders and looked between him and Lobo unsurely. He spread his arms in a universal 'no weapons' gesture and offered the kid what he hoped was an amiable smile. "Why can't we all get along, huh?" And then something else occured to him. "You shouldn't talk about a lady like that. S' not nice."
Jesus Christ, Hutch, of all the things to scold somebody who's probably going to electrocute you about...

(Na No.. wha...?)
Lobo watched the vamp and quickly realized that he didn’t have not one aggressive bone in his body. How the frag did this guy eat? With a sippy straw?
“Okay kid, dat’s enough.” Lobo clamped a hand on Jolt’s shoulder, but only used enough pressure to let the kid know that he could have turned the whole joint into pulverized calcium. “Fang-face der didn’t do nut’in’ to ya or yer brudder. Besides I tink it’s yer brudder dats gotta make a decision here soon or ‘e might end up in da drink. Or barbecued. Or pancake batter if she drops ‘im on da street.
“Besides da flyin’ leather handbag’s gotta point. She’s gotta right ta exist widdout bein’ ‘assled all da time.” Okay, this may have seemed outlandish coming from the Czarnian, but then again he was defending his paycheck so there might have been a bit of reassurance in his own scheme of things. Besides He wouldn’t have sent a couple of brats in to bag his prize. He’d do it personally, and with minimal fuss. No sense in making any target suffer, unless they were askin’ fer it.
With that haymaker of a hand still “resting” on Jolt’s shoulder, Lobo looked skyward to see if the older brother would come to his senses as well.

"Exactly the point," shouted Jolt, who was pointing at the boy in question "if I don't help him, he's gonna turn into gooey, asphalt salad! How will I explain this to my Pops when I go home? Oh hey Dad, back from school! Your other son is a pile of guts on the sidewalk!" Jolt wanted to believe that the dragon was wrong and that Shockwave knew what he was doing.
Much to Shockwave's dismay, Krepta was right. He thought about his choices: attack and plummet to his death, or make a truce and risk putting his father's job as well as his brother's well being at stake. He looked at Maurice and was able to pick up a few words about possible peacemaking by reading his lips. He looked back at the dragon, trying not to seem as terrified as he was of falling and finally cracked up a plan. He put on his best set of puppy eyes and decided that a bluff was the best decision.
"Alright, alright," he pleaded, "spare us! We're poor and our job is all we have! We were ordered to do this or they would kick us and our father onto the street! Please, miss, don't kill us!" He was starting to think that lying wasn't as hard as he thought it was. It made him feel dirty to down himself to his brother's usual ways, but if he managed back onto the ground, he was sure he would have an easy vantage point. Already, he started calculating possible areas he could use his electrical abilities to his advantage. He tapped his heels together.
Jolt looked up at his brother at the sound. His brother had a plan, the tapping of his shoes meant to go along with it. He looked back at Maurice, remembering what he had said moments before. He wondered if such a humble, kinda lame guy really could be an immortal. Well, he was definitely cooler than the sparkly vampires.

Flying Leather Handbag, Krepta thought as she swooped overhead again, low enough to hear. That's a new one. She watched the exchange between her captive and his brother and rose a bit higher, just in case. She wasn't sure how far their powers could go, but she was certain that at the very least, if either of them zapped her from here, she wouldn't be the only one going splat. "Call him off, then," she growled down at Shockwave. She wasn't buying it. "That's the only way you're getting out of here alive. Tell him to back up to Lobo and sit down." She hoped Lobo had something to secure him from there. "And to do what he says." She had been tricked enough in her younger years to know that bratty kids didn't just turn sickly sweet at a moment's notice. Whether that sob story of his was true or not, she wasn't about to take any chances. Maybe she might play with her own life, but not with the life of her friend's. She was starting to wonder if bringing him here had been a mistake... She wanted to have some company and insurance-- well, that wasn't the big, hulking, bounty hunter kind, but she didn't want him to get hurt. If something happened to him because of her... she didn't know what she'd do. "I can stay up here all night if need be, but I'm losing my patience. I'm starting to wonder if it wouldn't just be simpler to drop you. Why don't you make up my mind for me, hm?" Her grip started to loosen again, dangerously. "You've got three minutes."

The grin that unraveled on the Czarnian’s face told the tale. At least He was buying the lie that was being spoon-fed into his maw. “Kid’s finally seein’ sum sense. ‘Bout time.”
But it was clear that Krepta still didn’t trust the pair as she was shaking Shockwave like a little rag doll. Lobo’s ‘winning’ smile faded a bit. While he was all for beating people up as a general policy, he still would have preferred that the person getting the smack down was someone worthy of the punishment. The Czarnian could think of a whole planet full of people he’d rather see enmeshed in the dragon’s talons long before this pair of punk ass kids.
So surprizedly it was Lobo that became the voice of calm reason. “Hey! Lizard Lips.! I t’ink th’ kid’s had enuff. Better git down here afore somebody spots ya up der. I can’t very well cover yer scaly ass from down here.” He’s eyes rolled towards where the pre-dawn light was beginning to creep over the rolling ocean, slowly illuminating the docks. Indeed within’ a few minutes Gotham was going to get quite an aerial show unless Krepta either found some cloud cover or finally relented in her scare tactics.
Lobo did keep one hand on Jolt, just in case the kid was planning to bolt for it once his brother was back on terra firma.

[Sorry for all the delays. I'm finally free of November nowt hough!]
The vampire hung back and listened to these conversations. He wasn't about to jump in. He had to say, though, that he was impressed by the kids' spunk. He knew that at that age, if a big burly...whatever Lobo was had him by the shoulder he probably would have wet himself. Though...also at that age he would have been playing Nintendo or something instead of playing super hero. The Czarnian’s words snapped him out of his daydream.
Spots her...?
Dawn!
Oh, crap.
Maurice suddenly got quite animated and turned his back on the two of them, face pointed skyward. He tried to wave the red dragon down.
"Heeeeey! Hey, Krepta! I've gotta head inside!" It felt like such a weenie move, but he wasn't going to be worth anything once the morning's rays hit the streets. You couldn't intimidate punks as a pile of ash and bone. He shot a glance back at Lobo as if he were asking for forgiveness. Then he looked to the kid. Yeah, squirt, you'd better be glad I have to go inside with my tail between my legs!
The dead man made a B-line for the warehouse's entrance.

Lobo watched as the vampire seemed to blanch even whiter than his normal creamy white complexion allowed for then scoot back into the warehouse. The Czarnian groaned, face-palming himself as he watched their united front crumbled in the advancing light of morn. “Frag me,” he growled as he once again turned his attention skyward, all the while continuing his restraining grip around Jolt’s neck, just in case the kid got a bright idea.

Jolt looked up at Maurice and then at the sky, it was tinting a lighter hue. Oh man, he had school soon, Dad was going to be so pissed. Wait. School soon? The realization that dawn was approaching finally hit him and his head snapped back toward Maurice. It was dawn approaching and he saw in movies all the time that vampires melt in the sunlight, though he wondered whether or not that was the Gremlins from that movie that terrified his brother when they were little. He knew for a fact that Maurice was a friend of Krepta's and as long as he didn't hurt him, they might be able to convince her to be on their side.
In a flash of bad judgment, he shouted again toward the sky. "Hey Broski," he hollered "stall as LONG AS POSSIBLE. try pick up lines!" He started sprinting after Maurice in a slightly frightening fashion, determination in his eyes. "Waitwaitwaitwait! Stop! I don't have steak on me, I promise! My brother's a vegetarian anyways!"

(( Sounds good to me! That would make it my turn, I think. Remember to use something to separate your ooc from your ic, by the way, like I'm doing. Keeps things looking neat. :3 ))
Krepta snarled she caught the other brother's shouts through the howling wind. The kid just didn't learn did he?! She felt rage boil up and overtake her, and her grip on Shockwave tightened painfully, as if she were content to just pop him like a water balloon right there. Then Lobo's voice reached her as well.
What right he he have to chide her?! He was just some stupid bounty hunter! Didn't he kill people on a daily basis? She could feel her heart thundering in her ears. As if Lobo were the king of good morals! He hadn't been through what she had been through! He had no right! None of them did! She was going to end this threat tonight! Screw some back-water, hypocritical criminal telling her what to do! She was going to bite their rotten little heads off first of all, and then--
"Oh god..." The whisper was lost in the cold morning air, but it was not the wind that chilled her. She felt the Beast fade, and with it, her grip on her captive, which had, in those last few seconds, come dangerously close to crushing force. She-- she could have killed him. It would have been so easy...
She saw Maurice vanish around the building with his tail between his legs, but was more relived than angry. One less thing to worry about. One more thing to worry about too. Nothing had happened like this since-- since, well, Shadeslayer.
Heedless now of what the other brother would do, she dropped heavily to the ground on her next pass, looking dazed and shell-shocked. She set Shockwave down as well, giving him a rough shove to send him Lobo's way, hoping he would catch him. At least Maurice was safe now. For how long, she didn't know-- this was Gotham, after all, but for now, he was safe.
"Take him Lobo. Get them away from me." As far as possible. Had it not been through the Bounty Hunter's words cutting through the red fog of rage clouding her mind, the Beast might have killed them. No-- she knew it would have. She tried to salvage what was left of her dignity. "And I can cover my only scaly ass. Make sure they don't get away from you this time." It was an attempt at humor, but a shaken and lifeless one. "I didn't see where the other one went."
Only then did it dawn on her that she had lost sight of him in landing. She didn't want to fight the kid right now... There was too much that could go wrong in her current mental state, but she didn't think she had a choice. So, resolving herself, she turned to look for Jolt, wings still half-flared, and waited to meet the next threat.

Lobo reached out and clamped his free hand on Shockwave as the dragon shoved the youth towards him. He still had his other hand on Jolt’s shoulder, those beefy chalky fingers still digging into the kid’s shoulder just in case he had any funny business planned; but it seemed that it was the dragon that was acting all strange now. “Ah got ‘em,” he replied, watching as the massive reptile swung her head about as if she couldn’t quite see what was in front of her flamin’ face. He probably would have said something off-color (well he was apt to anyhow) but if it weren’t for the fact that she was his current employer and still footing the bill.
So he would deal with the brother. “C’mon,” he growled at his hostages. “We’re gonna go ‘ave a quite little chat an’ leave da big bad lizard alone fer now.” Not waiting for an answer, he attempted to drag them along with him away from Krepta’s not longer so secret hideout. Yeah, there was gonna be a discussion about things, and depending on the answers he got would determine if the duo would live to see breakfast, or become breakfast.

The drop felt like a pause in reality, lungs constricting and screams clogging his throat. While he had the oppurtunity to learn that life didn't theatrically play in front of anyones' eyes when faced with near death, he certainly wasn't about to do that again. Shockwave hoped he wouldn't need a new pair of pants when he felt the tight grip of Lobo's fingers. This was the last person he would want to owe his life to. Voice reaching an embarrassingly high octave, he squeaked "Good to see you, this fine morning".
Many questions and emotions racked the mind of the elder twin. What was with the look in that dragon's eyes? Why was she working with an alien bounty hunter and a vampire? Why did he and his brother always have to do this kind of stressful work? Couldn't they file papers or something that didn't involve possibly getting mauled by something bigger than them?
"So," Jolt butted in, atempting to make something nice of the current situation, "maybe we could take this conversation to a nice waffle house". He tried to distract himself from the large fingers on his shoulders, hoping some twin telepathy could kick in just at that moment.
In a hushed voice, Shockwave growled "Is now really the time? Because for once, I don't actually have the capacity to make a plan to save our backsides".
