" I'm giving up; I'm giving up s l o w l y I'm blending in so you don't even k n o w me. Apart from this whole w o r l d that shares my fate. " - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/b]ichard lifted his chin to the sky, and a drop of rain hit his nose directly on the tip; he remained stoic. His black glasses kept his eyes concealed, narrowed as they were, and though his jacket fluttered lightly in the breeze coming from the North, cold, and quick to the bone, his fists remained clenched silently. The rain had moved on. The worn awning he'd been watching it moodily from was dripping as well, but behind him. As the clouds moved on they whitened from the dark black they'd been - stormy, and looming. They drifted to cover the city's skies in an impenetrable white blanket. It was finally silent, and chilly. Almost like the breath before the sigh. Richard blew his own breath from his nose to dispel the water and peered up through an emergency ladder attached to the old building beside him, to the sun, as it hovered like a pale ghost behind the bright clouds. With a sun like this, today, it was easy to see how dark the shadows cast by the city of light were. All around him, the great city of Metropolis rose. Its shining buildings were dimmed in light but not in greatness. The ally was damp from the rain, but the streets beyond were teeming and not at all desolate. People walked briskly passed the dark opening he stood just inside of with a kind of fervor - it was a fervor to get out of this weather and into their safe homes, but all the same. There was no fear, no worry. Just an impatience. Richard's shined black shoes crunched pebbles underfoot as he turned and headed deeper into the dark alleyway, hands deep in his skinny jean pockets, dark jacket hanging over his sharp shoulders. His green hoodie was pulled tight around him. As he strode, with a strange lack of the impatience of the rest of the city, his shoulders appeared more hunched in the light. The shadows from the building touched the tips of his shoes, then ate at his legs and chest, finally consuming him into blackness. He wasn't here for the cheer and glory. He was here on a mission, and the darkness that came with it. Turning the corner and ducking through a broken fence post coated in barbed wire brought him to where he wanted to be. He took a sharp left and pushed aside a curtain to find a narrow crawl space between two gigantic buildings. Turning sideways, he just fit, smoothing to the cement overhang just wide enough to stand on sideways and not fall off. Standing front ways, toes over the edge, he put a hand up to shield his eyes from the neon glow coming from every direction. Signs everywhere screaming 'OPEN!' 'SALE!' and 'DRINKS!' in all different fonts and colors hung from shop windows boarded up, doors latched tightly closed. Ratty clothes hung everywhere; in the streets, from lines between buildings. Broken bottles, cans and trash lined the sidewalks, and above, attaching all the buildings roofs, was a ceiling of metal nailed clumsily together. Leaky, looked like a patchwork quilt, but it kept out the light, and here mold and crime thrived. Robin scaled a drain pipe to get down onto street level and as he touched the broken up cement a rickety looking bus sailed passed at seventy from the tunnel attaching the street to the underground. The blast from the wind coming off it blew Richard's hair back from his head, and his jacket went flapping as his hand went white-knuckled on the rusty pipe. As it rounded a hair-pin turn on two wheels and vanished he began to take account of the figures in the streets as he pulled up his hood and yanked it almost cleanly closed. A hobo, with a half empty vodka bottle danging from his hand, was staring at a lamppost with one lone flickering light bulb and murmuring something under his breath. He looked beaten to hell, with long, gray, dirty white hair that plastered to his face and neck from the rain leaking through the ceiling of this pitt, and was dressed in baggy and torn clothes. His hands were as black as his bare feet and his eyes were milky and veiled. He was blind in one eye. An eye kept sneaking peeks at him from behind one of the boarded up shop windows; a crack in the woodwork showed a glowing gold light, and when it was covered by the black eye, it locked on him strangely. Superstitious old men; well noted. A woman in her fifties brushed passed him as she crossed the street and stomped down the sidewalk in her thick red high heels, all saggy skin and cigarette smoke. Her high-piled hair was raunchy and filthy, and her clothes, at once very regal and beautiful, were sullied with sweat, dirt and years of wear-and-tear. She clutched her fur coat as she scrambled away from him. Richard noted a man in a trench coat hovering in an ally on his side of the street and slid across to the other side as he passed, long legs stretched out in front of him as he strode. It smelled thickly of fungus, rotting flesh and smoke here. As he buried his nose in his hoodie his glasses reflected the neon lights as he passed in waves like carnival mirrors. He was looking for someone; someone important. To him, to the mission, it mattered little - all he knew was that he needed to find the place, and find them, as quickly as he was able. [/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - " I'm begging you to be m y escape. First came the screams, then a trickle of people-- running, yelling-- fleeing from someone or something. Then the trickle became a flood, and after the flood came the dragon. It was a kaleidoscope of bright and vibrant colors-- like the plumage of a tropical bird or some rare lizard. Reds, greens, blues, and the fiery and primal yellow-gold of it's eyes. It prowled along the streets-- an apex predator in it's prime, hissing, deadly jaws always searching, hungry and ready to make a kill. It's long talons scraped against the asphalt as it moved, head swaying side to side. At first, it's target was a car, and it lunged at the fleeing vehicle savagely, digging in with claw and fang. The creature swiftly discovered that the object was far from tasty though, and released the car and it's terrified driver to screech off down the road. Then someone-- likely one of the fleeing mob, lost a small dog. The dragon found it with a swift snap of it's jaws. For what ever reason, a small blessing perhaps, the dragon had not thought to pursue the fleeing crowd on wing. Perhaps it had simply forgotten that it had wings. It certainly seemed like it, for it allowed them to drag in an ungainly fashion along the ground behind it. There was no telling how long that would last though.

(Gonna just slip in a starter here to pace it right. C: Then I'll be able to jump into the fight once it charges up enough.)
About ten blocks away from the center of town was the hospital. Inside the hospital were 15 floors, the second to bottom of which was the lonesome, dreary morgue. It was a place of sadness, silence, and snow-cold chill. The morgue had several compartments which held those who had passed to the next plane, but there was only one of which that would come to be of importance. It was labeled '15B', and the door was tightly locked. Inside was the recent victim of a car crash. He lay peacefully, eyes closed, and eternally restful. His time had come and passed, tragically at the age of 45.
There was only one morgue attendant in there at the moment, the other three had gone out to lunch. He worked silently at a desk, facing away from 15B. However, after a few moments, he noticed the air become a bit more crisp than it normally was. It was tense, and his hair began to stand on end. He looked around confusedly, then turned back to his work trepidatiosly. Behind him, however, there was something happening in 15B.
A few flashes of light flickered from within, and a low, barley audible hum began to form. Then, crackles began to become more loud, and lights flickered. The attendant stood up, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose with wide eyes as he stared at the ceiling. The doors of all the compartments began to rattle, and electricity flew against the metal wall that held them in place. Some doors feel open, others managed to remain closed, but it was still enough to scare the attendant into leaning against the desk behind him, slowly sinking down to hide under it's wooden frame. The room became engulfed in light for a good while, and as it did, the attendant screamed, believing these to be his last moments.
The light faded, and just as it did, a foot kicked the door to 15B open. A tall man pushed the tray of the compartment out, and climbed off calmly. He stood up straight just as His clothes finished forming over His body, His eyes still closed. The attendant, still panting out of fear, kept his eyes fixed on the man standing before him. Currents of electricity snapped and crackled over His armor and finger tips, and at last, He opened His glowing blue eyes. He stared forward for a time, eyes focused in thought, then He finally looked to the attendant. The attendant managed to let out another yelp of terror before finally fainting. The man narrowed His eyes and frowned almost apologetically, then calmly strode out.
He walked out of the hospital, leaving a steady stream of on-lookers staring in confusion at His clothing and over all appearance. He stepped into the light of the city, lifting His head to get a good look around before moving on silently. He never quite understood cities. So many tall buildings to obscure the nature beyond them. Still, there were things to be focusing on more, at the moment, like the creature attacking the city.

((OOC: I'm thinking of slipping the twins in here too. If you want me to back off or edit the post, just PM me.))
As the chaos ensued, Team Electroshock just so happened to be on their way to joining the action. The Light wasn't necessarily against the League at this point, however, they had heard of trouble occurring in other cities besides Gotham and reassigned the boys to investigate there. Creatures much like ones seen in fairy tales had been seen in the area; Shockwave and Jolt had been sent to capture the said creature and bring it to head quarters. The description seemed much like a dragon, which immediately sparked interest in Shockwave and Jolt due to recent events.
Recently, the boys had an encounter with a dragon which had been protected by the Creeper. Misinterpreting the Creeper's messages to leave, the two engaged in a short battle between the all of them. The situation did not turn in favor of the boys, so they had to make a tactical retreat. Devastated and humiliated, the two reported to their current boss who sent them off to return to a delivery mission. Returning to the original mission of delivering a package, Shockwave and Jolt were able to recover and deliver said goods safely. When the twins were reassigned to Metropolis, the twins were eager to get this mission done correctly.
Waiting in the backseat of a taxi, Jolt, the younger twin groaned and put his hand through his light brown locks. He threw his head back; his costume was getting uncomfortable, the ride was long and he didn't like sitting for too long beside his more mature brother. He wanted to catch that stupid creature already; his legs were itching and his urge to get up only grew as time passed on. Fidgeting and twitching his fingers, he fiddled with the cab seatbelt as he looked out the window.
Shockwave on the other hand, was far too busy contemplating theories and admiring the lights of Metropolis city. This city seemed much brighter, more friendly. It helped him keep his mind off of darker thoughts that made him question his brother as well as the Light. He took a deep breath in as he saw the blur of neon colored store lights rush by. Just as he was about to open the window, he heard a noise.
"Duuuuuude," he groaned "are we there yet?" "No," Shockwave replied with an irritated expression "for the hundredth time, we are not there yet."
Suddenly the boys heard something that sounded like a roar as well as the screaming of civilians.
"Stop the taxi."

The shop owner eyed him with his only eye left, his eye patch unable to hide the long, dark scar beneath it, but he didn't object. The sign on the door said, 'Bathroom for customer use only,' and he wasn't in an arguing mood. Ducking into the lavatory, Richard made a swift choice of the cleanest stall - which had a green toilet seat instead of a black one - to change into Robin. Then, he kicked open the rusty window and weaved through the shadowed alleys until he heard the screams. Stepping out into the street, he was pushed back by the flood of fleeing people, who almost trampled him trying to get down the ally. He grappled over the crowd and onto an awning above the sidewalk to see what the heck was making them run like that and his jaw dropped. A giant, beautifully colored, vibrant beast lumbered through the streets, nomming on a car. His wings were great, his claws were sharp, and his teeth gashed as he snatched up the small dog. Robin felt the adrenaline hit him as he jumped straight up as high as he could go, coming down at an angle, to fly-kick the monster in the side of the head. He kicked off of it to avoid any counter there might be and landed heavily on the roof of a taxi, straightening up. "Hey, ugly!" He called. "Your mother was a salamander!" Then, turning down an ally, he darted off, hoping to draw the monster away from the houses and people unable to get out of the monster's way. He headed towards the square - which, ultimately, was a cobblestone square in the middle of this pit with the least people and most space. It wasn't going to mess up any innocents if he had a say in it. Kara White hated today. The rain, along with shouting, bustling people, just were not her cup of tea. After her dad had received a call from his advisor, he set off to Metropolis for an excavation site. Unfortunately, Darren had taken his out-of-school daughter to 'see the city!'. After leaving her dad to his rocks, Kara had grabbed her bag of... important necessities and headed off to explore the town in her 'civvies'. So far, Metropolis didn't seem that bad to Kara. It was so much brighter than the Gotham she was used to! The only downside- there was so many people! Finally having enough of her fair share of accidental bumps and shoves, she turned down an alley to get away from the madness. The difference in the alley and the busy streets seemed to shock Kara at first. It was dark and wet. The rancid smell of rotting flesh and smoke passed through the air making her gag a little. As she regained her composure, the sound of screams made their way to her alert ears. Clutching her bag she hurried out of the alley hoping to find somewhere to change. Coming across a small family store she quickly hurried inside. An older lady, probably mid 70's, greeted her at the counter full of candles and chocolate. "May I help you young lady?" "May I use your bathroom ma'am?", Kara tried not to sound rushed, but he look she got in reply told her the lady was suspicious. "Sorry honey, paying customers only." Feeling frustrated, Kara quickly took out a twenty and bought a small chocolate item. Running to the bathroom, Kara called to the lady, "Keep the change!" Scanning the bathroom, Kara breathed a sigh of relief for the window above the toilet. Changing quickly, Canary unlocked the bathroom door and headed out the window, leaving her bag under the sink for later. A maze of alley ways and up one building later, Canary finally reached the source of the screaming. With a surprised gasp, she saw the big dragon! (Wow….the entrance was just kind of awkward ^_^; I accept any criticism )

The enormous reptile was savoring it's domesticated snack when something bounced off the side of it's head. It shook it's head in annoyance and snorted, snapping it's head around to spew a jet of fire Robin's way. In it's eyes, Robin was no more a threat than the little bird who's name he took. He did look tasty though. Growling to itself, it swept it's slathering jaws across the pavement to dislodge some clinging fur, then lifted it's head to survey it's surroundings. The other little two legged things had fled, but there were others now, moving towards it instead of away. It lumbered to it's feet, a deep hunger in it's eyes, and roared defiance at them all, sparks shooting from it's mouth to dance down through the air to be put out by the pavement.
Above, someone watched the scene through curious eyes, safe behind the cover of a bill-board advertising coca-cola. The are around the strange figure seemed to shimmer strangely, like the ever changing surface of a soap bubble.

He was getting closer. He could hear the sounds of commotion, and feel the tremors in the ground. He was only about a block away, now. He began to run when He heard the roar, feet leaving small, short bolts of electricity as they lifted off the ground. From the sounds of it, there were others fighting with this creature. Trying to prevent destruction, perhaps? He came around the corner, passing by the few last civilians escaping. Those He passed would feel the hair on whichever side of their body faced him most rising. He was focused, and prepared for a fight.
He had to maintain control, however. There were too many street lights, signs, and generators around to allow His powers to expand very far. He would have to keep His attacks to a smaller scale than He would have liked. That would make it harder to take down this beast, which might lead to more destruction. If things got too bad, He'd have to cause some damage to property, Himself. He always disliked doing that. As He ran, He felt the presence of the figure, but had no time to heed it. He began to see what looked like a young man, trying to lure the beast away to a more secluded area, while others were coming forward to fight it. A young woman, dressed in clothes that would mark her as a superhero, was perched atop a building, looking on what He now saw. A dragon. A large one at that.
But something was wrong here. This dragon wasn't always corrupted. Something darker was at work here. For now though, this destruction had to be stopped.

Leaping out of the open cab window, Jolt dashed out onto the pavement, his brother a few feet behind him. He loved the thrill of a chase, especially if it happened to be chasing something dangerous or unknown. A woman dashed by, skirt partially burnt and tattered by escaping the psychotic creature. Just as Jolt was about to leap into action, his brother pulled him back and gestured toward his clothes. The expression on his face seemed slightly annoyed.
"We need to change first. It'd be bad if civilians or worse, the press saw two random school kids shooting lightning everywhere. Come on." he commanded. Dragging his younger, more arrogant, twin into a nearby alleyway, the two changed out of their hoodies and into a little something more suitable for the occasion. After a few minutes of arguing and "Hey, aren't those my pants?" Jolt and Shockwave walked out, adjusting their goggles.
"You change slower than a girl." Jolt grumbled. "Shut up, at least I can zip my fly." Shockwave growled back, his brother then spewing out a lame come back as he fixed the zipper on his pants. Clothes, however, weren't the main event here.
Assessing the situation, Jolt looked around and started to run toward the noise. Screams, fire and dead animals seemed to be everywhere. Both of them ran in the direction of the dragon and were excited when the creature actually came into view. As Shockwave immediately started working on a capture plan, Jolt stepped forward ready to charge at the beast at any moment. Watching it rage across and eat poor pets of people and crash randomly into buildings, Shockwave noticed that something was off about this creature; it probably was never this way to begin with.
The Light had scientists that could analyze it, so capturing it alive was his main priority. His current plan was to stun and use materials nearby to contain the specimen; he was hoping he wouldn't bump into trouble like a certain incident in Gotham. Suddenly, he and him brother saw flames and what appeared to be a rambunctious blur of red, yellow and black go by.
Robin. It had to be him. "Looks like we're helping bird-wonder." Jolt smiled, he always wanted to meet Robin. Little did he know that they'd be meeting many other faces that night.

Canary sat in awestruck at the dragon, taking in it’s vibrant colors. Looking at it’s golden eyes, she felt mesmerized by their beauty. Her small trance was broken by a familiar voice. “Hey ugly! Your mother was a salamander!” Laughing lightly at his antics, she saw the Boy Wonder trying to catch the dragons attention. With a spike of adrenaline, Canary watched the beautiful beast spew fire from its mouth toward the 'flying' Boy Wonder. Deciding to make the odds a little even, she unleashed her grappling hook to the opposite building. Feeling the reassuring tug, she swung off and into action. Swinging closer to the target, Canary watched as Robin moved away from the civilian area. Following his lead, she swung her feet in front of her to gain speed. Finally, reaching the cobblestone square, she spoke with a smile on her face to her ally, "Got a plan?"

It wasn't taking his bait. He would need to lure it out with bigger guns, a bigger distraction. . . Hearing a voice beside him, he turned in surprise to see Canary standing by his side. A grin spread across his face. "Do I ever?" He shot back, teasing. "Just follow my lead, las." To the nearest building he turned to, shooting his grappling hook to the top rung of the fire escape. He skirted off the ground and rose quickly, metal rungs whizzing passed, until he stretched out his legs to swing in towards the brick and bent his knees to brace for impact. With a soft thud his shoes hit the worn brick, and he slid down to plant his feet firmly on the top step of the last ladder, retracting his hook. He cleared about a meter in under two seconds, unhooking his smoke grenade as he went, and scaled a brick structure crumbling from age and leaped off it into the air. He brought back his arm and flung the grenade as hard as he could, feeling it fly perfectly from his fingers and towards the dragon's beautiful plumed head. Hitting the ground in a somersault, he rolled alone the cruel concrete, bouncing to his feet once more. Perching on the wall on the edge of the rooftop he watched rigidly for the beast's reaction. Below, he spotted movement, and saw two teenage boys dressed in hero garb looking on. Canary, him, two other boys . . . and it was strange. He sensed two other presences. One was very close by; shimmering, as if not really there, but a figment of his imagination. The other was strong and staticky - like a bolt of pure energy, of lightning that reins down on villages and towns and wipes out only the swine. It was untainted power. Amazing, he thought briefly. But where was it coming from. . . ? [/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - " I'm begging you to be m y escape. Something small thwaped against the dragons head and bounced to the ground. It snorted and cocked it's head, sniffing the thing-- likely some kind of small nut. It was about to disregard it as another attack from one of those annoying flying things, when the little nut began to belch smoke! With a startled trumpet, the dragon reared back and roared at the thing before coming back down on it with full force. The smoke grenade was reduced to pieces, but there was still the harassing little creature that had thrown it. Angry amber eyes locked onto Robin, and the dragon was reminded of the small, furry primates it had snacked on earlier this morning. They had been easy to catch, but the barrier they had been hidden behind had proved a slight difficulty. It had broken through anyhow. The creature had no bars to protect it, and it was quickly looking more appetizing by the moment. With an enraged roar, the scaled beast shook out it's feathered mane and charged at Robin, jaws agape and dripping with teeth.

Raiden was now only a street length away from the dragon. Just as the smoke bomb hit its head, Raiden stopped mid-step to wait for a reaction. The young man and girl wanted to lure it away, but it didn't seem like they were fully prepared for a front-on attack from the creature. He looked up to see exactly where the two children were, and how the creature planned to charge at them. His eyes grew in intensity, small currents of electricity beginning to flow out of them.
A large crack of lightning came down from the skies, directly hitting and engulfing Raiden. The Lighting seemed to carry Him into the sky as it left the ground. Within moments, another strick of lightning hit the edge of the building Robin and Canary were on, right between them and where the dragon was headed. As the lighting crackled and lifted off the ground, it formed His body again. He stood with his palms raised up to the sky. The lightning focused onto his hands, then flashed into non-existence. His back facing the two children, He immediately formed two charges of electricity in His hands, aiming them and launching them towards the creature. Hopefully, if it hit, the dragon might at least swerve out of the way.
