[COMIC|TALK ] I thought I'd make a thread where people can talk about the wonderful stories of the DC Universe (or its imprints, like Vertigo), and complain about the not so good ones, as well as ask for suggestions on good comics to read. Whether they be classics, finished story arcs, or ongoing comics, feel free to discuss them!
If you're asking for suggestions, remember to be specific, as there are a lot of comics out there. Try to explain what mood, art style, character, or pairing you want. If you're new to comics, you may want to let us know so that we can offer rookie-friendly story arcs. Worst thing you can do to a newcomer is confuse them with a ton of characters they don't know yet in a place they've never heard of for reasons they don't fully understand!
You can also ask for elaboration on comics you didn't quite get, or offer elaborations yourself.
So make merry and talk about the comics created and distributed by our lovely friends over at DC!

Cool! I'll just jump ahead and start with a little blabbering then! I just started on Batman actually. Like.. the OLD Batman, and even if the artwork is somewhat.. not quite my style and not at all how I expected Batman to start out either (I think it'll change when I get to the newer comics xD) i kind of like it It's easy to follow, easy to read and really nice overall ^^ Also: the Young Justice comic (not the new one the 90's one) seems really cool! It's greatly entertaining, there is a lot of inside puns meddled up with the typical teenage humor, just the way I personally like it. It totally met my expectations! It's got drama, puppy love, kick-ass crime fighting, a SUPERCYCLE!!, and a graffiti covered cave as HQ! love!

Everybody's gotta love the hip 90's kid pad! I liked things best in the 1990's and early 2000's. Everything was just kinda at it's prime.
Yeah, the original Batman is very novelty compared to the current day one. But it was something entirely new for comic books back then, and it was considered edgy for its time.
I mostly read the 70's batman, because back then Creeper made several appearances and teamed up with Batman, who would always end up entirely befuddled because of how wacky Creeper was. xD

Dude, yes xD I wish I was born like 6 years earlier: that way I'd been old enough to appreciate the glory of the 90's when it was actually going on! (I'm born in 93 so I missed out on most of the fun *sadface*) I have most of the issues on my computer so I'm just working my way through them ever so slowly ^^ They're good reading though, I like most of the ideas behind the different plots a lot. for example the first appearance of the Joker had me halfway fangasming just because I knew it was the first appearance. When it was written someone had actually sat down and made the character for that issue!! kyaaah!! <3 <3 Now Batman's still awesome, but the characters are re-cycled so to speak, it's no entirely new cast of crooks if you get me. (sorry if this info's totally off, as I said, I still haven't read enough of Batman to really judge 100 % fairly) haha xD I heard the 70's Bats was pretty neat

Dude! I was born in 93, too! :'D Just old enough to be mentally scarred by Nick Jr!
When it comes to Batman, yeah, most of the original cast has stayed, and new villains/heroes coming in are just kinda re-packaged versions of the old ones, but how can you even replace badasses(hope that's PG-13 8I) like Joker, Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman? They're the best crooks out there.
The other villains that were introduced during the Dark Age, like Two-Face, Zsasz, Bane, etc etc were good too. They were just a different type of Batman Villain. They were a total reflection of the decade.

Dude! Winning! High five? I know! Batman has like the most badass (I don't think it PG-13 but is there really another way to describe them) villains EVER! Personally, my faves, from what I know so far is Ivy and of course the Joker. Actually, Batman's villains are so cool, that some of them have cool sidekick too (Harley Quinn <3 ) I'm soooooo looking forward to the Dark Age! Two-Face's just a brilliant concept I actually think that's what I like the most about Batman. The concept. It's very psychological ^^

Oh yeah. There's this one Dark Age Batman arc called 'The Long Halloween'. It's really amazing, and I includes Harvey Dent's transformation into Two-Face.
And yay! Harley Quinn! I own the Bruce Timm/Paul Dini collection of B:TAS comics like Mad Love. Oh my gosh it's amazing. There's a Two-Face story in there that's undeniably the best Two-Face story I've read/watched connected to the DCAU.

xD Yey! high-tech geekdom! Well, as long as you know it's awesome. xD
And Yeah, the Long Halloween is kinda expensive, because it's two years worth of comics that are now viewed as classics, as well as the first Two-Face comic, I believe.

I'm just saving up money for a copy of 'Steve Ditko's The Creeper Collection'. Me waaaant. *grabby hands* Also. RAEG. I just found out that they've not only made Riddler go back to crime, rather than remain a neutral/chaotic character, but they've given him a new hench-woman. Enigma, who is apparently his daughter. media.comicvine.com/uploads/6/67336/1563941-riddler_000_super.jpgThis makes me so... sort of angry. >|C I can't be too upset about him going back to crime, even though him being neutral was a more interesting character trait to me, but I can be angry that they pulled this. Riddler having children... ugh. That's been done before in the 80's, and it sucked then. =___= He's just not the right character to have evil hench-offspring. That's much more of a thing meant for Vandal Savage (who has a daughter, Scandal), or Ra's Al Ghul (who has Talia, of course). You need to be very rich, wise, and evil. Riddler is still in his 40's (in the current comic, anyhow), and while he might be rich, he certainly doesn't have the social stability to be able to buy a fancy mansion like Savage or Ghul. I really hate it when they pull this female-counterpart thing. DC has a bad habit of this, because now they're doing it with Two-Face, as well.

Ra's Al Ghul's daughter has problems. XD
I was born in 1991, so I come from the age where Nick's mascot was still a Popsicle stick. XD And Nick Jr. 's was a giant scary face that changed colors. XD
As for me, I'm pretty fond of the Mike Mongolia Comics. Hellboy and all that. XD And JLA. I think the White Martians were my favorite. They were just so... freaky, but intelligent scary at the same time. I tend to ignore some of the more modern comics. I agree that Riddler having a kid was a dumb decision. XD

Hellboy's awesome. *owns a poster* I like reading the classic JLA, but I haven't been able to get my hands on anything recent. I have read a lot of Superman and Action Comics, though, which include a lot of JLA stuff. I also like Green Arrow, the over-confident prick. Cx
