//Basic Information
Played By: kaybird
Codename: Artemis.
Civilian Identity: Artemis Crock
Nicknames: Art, Artie, Blondie. She’s not fond of any of them, though.
Gender: Female.
//Description
Age: 15 years
Apparent age: 15 years
Hair: Long and blond, often in a ponytail.
Eyes: Dark gray.
Height and weight: 5”4, 117 lbs.
Appearance
Artemis has long blond hair which, when loose, falls down past her back. She usually has it tied back in a ponytail, where it’s not in her way. She’s got a very good figure, with decent curves for a girl her age. And it’s not hard to tell that she’s in good physical condition – her limbs are long and strong, with rather defined muscles in her stomach and her arms. This is especially shown when she wears her uniform, which has short sleeves and exposes her midriff.
She has sharp features, dark, angular eyebrows, and her skin tone is a few shades darker than most blonds. This is likely due to the fact that she’s half Vietnamese.
Her team uniform is mostly green and black – dark green leggings, with black boots, knee-pads, utility belt, and a small black pouch that she’ll tie around her thigh. The top piece is a bit of an odd shape – it’s a sleeveless, dark green shirt that exposes her stomach, but the collar extends up to form her mask, which covers her neck, jaw, and part of her face. Her shirt has a lighter green arrow on her chest, and she tops it all off with olive green wrist warmers, which she uses to prevent her arrows from nicking her wrists when she shoots. And, of course, she’s almost never seen in uniform without her bow and quiver. Her uniform is also able to change into stealth mode, turning all the greens to different shades of gray and black.
When not in uniform she wears plain clothes – often just a plain shirt, a jacket, and jeans. That or her school uniform.
//Abilities: Meta and Natural

Natural Abilities
Artemis has no meta-human abilities, but don’t let that fool you. She’s been expertly trained by her father from a young age, and her main skill is archery. She’s one of the best archers out there, able to hit the smallest of targets from across great distances. She can notch arrow after arrow in quick succession, and she’s able to shoot with either of her hands. She’s also skilled in combat, and can hold her own in a fight against a number of different opponents.
Equipment: Of course, Artemis is rarely seen without her trusty bow and arrows. She uses what’s called a compound bow, which uses a number of pulleys and cables to bend its limbs. She’s also able to use a number of other types of bows, but that’s the one she’s most comfortable with. It’s also fairly heavy, and can be used as a blunt object to attack opponents when they’re too close to be hit with an arrow. Thanks to her father (and the Green Arrow) she’s able to craft and use a number of different trick arrows – arrows that explode, release knockout gas or a smokescreen, or even arrows with a rope on one end, which can be used like a grappling hook. But, of course, she can’t carry all these different arrows with her at once, so she’ll use take along whichever arrows she thinks will be best for the mission on hand. She’ll mark all her different arrows with small notches, up close to the fletching. These are so, when she reached back to her quiver, she can feel the tip of the arrow and know exactly what type of arrow she’s drawing. If possible, after a battle or a fight she’ll walk around and retrieve all the arrows that weren’t damaged, because it can be a pain having to always make new ones. She’ll also sometimes carry around a small, compactable crossbow. It’s not as powerful as a full-sized crossbow, but it’s still useful.
Origin of Abilities: Artemis was trained by her father, who was a criminal. He would often have Artemis and her sister pass a number of ‘tests’, to test their strength, endurance and other abilities. Of course, not all of these tests were exactly humane. Or legal. And now, of course, she’ll train with the Team (or on her own) almost every day, to keep her skills at their best.
//Weaknesses
Artemis is one of the only members of the Team without any actual powers. This has always put a strain on her, although it’s also helped to push herself even harder. But, despite all the training and practice she gets, she is just a 15 year old girl. She can take down a number of opponents, but those who are particularly larger or stronger than she is (Superboy, for example) can easily best her at close combat. And, unfortunately, she can only carry a certain number of arrows at a time. If a fight extends for a particularly long time, she will eventually run out. When this happens, she’s forced to find other means in which to fight.
//Personalty
Firstly, Artemis is secretive. She doesn’t open up easily, and hides things from even her Teammates, who are like her family. She feels like she should be able to trust them with things but, at the same time, she’s afraid that they’ll think of her differently if they knew who her father is, or the things that he and her mother had done. She’s become quite dependent on her teammates, and hates the thought of them thinking any less of her.
Artemis grew up in a pretty rough household, so she can sometimes be pretty aggressive. She’s used to always having to fight to protect herself from her father and his little “games”, so she can sometimes be pretty defensive. She’s got a pretty bad temper, as well and, when she’s angry she’ll often look to solve her problems with violence.
She’s not always so uptight, though. Artemis does actually have a sense of humor, believe it or not. She’ll often respond to other people (one redheaded speedster in particular) with sarcastic, biting remarks that may or may not be meant to offend. And, beneath all that, she is actually a teenage girl. She loves having a “girls-night-out” as much as the next girl (although her idea of a girls night is noticeably different than most people’s) and she can be a bit of a flirt when the opportunity arises.
//Background
Artemis was born to Paula and Lawrence Crock, their second child. Both of Artemis’s parents were criminals and when Artemis was only two or three years old, during a ‘mission’, her mother was crippled and taken to jail. She remained there for a number of years, while Artemis and her sister, Jade, were raised by their father alone. Sportsmaster wasn’t exactly an ideal father, and he pushed both his daughters hard, forcing them to train in multiple forms of combat. He’d put both girls through a number of tests to evaluate their skills, most of which were none too pleasant. Now, Artemis is thoroughly ashamed of the things she did under her father’s watchful eye, and she’s told almost no one about them.
When Artemis was nine, her sister left. Ran away. Artemis begged her to stay, but Jade claimed that she couldn’t handle their father’s abuse anymore. So Sportsmaster’s abuse all fell onto Artemis, and he pushed her even harder. Artemis knew her father was a criminal. She’d known that for years. But she also knew that she didn’t want to be one.
A few years after that, when Artemis was thirteen, her mother was released from prison. She returned home, informing her husband that she’d turned a new leaf, and she wanted her daughter to do the same. She wanted him to get out, and leave her and Artemis alone. Artemis overheard, and was thrilled at the thought of her father leaving. Unknown to both her parents, Artemis had been going behind her father’s back for a while. She would sneak out of the house, clad in a green uniform (which she modeled after that of the Green Arrow, who was her idol) and would wander around Gotham, doing her best to stop crime. It felt like she was making up for her father’s crimes.
A few nights after her father left, Artemis found herself creeping around Gotham Academy. There were a group of teenagers inside, and a bit of spying showed that they had meta-human abilities. The teenagers were fighting a large android, and seemed to be in trouble. From her position on the roof of the school, Artemis shot an arrow through a skylight, saving the teenager clad in yellow. Feeling content with herself, she left.
But she seemed to have left an impression. Shortly after that, Artemis was tracked down by Batman and the Green Arrow. Somehow, they’d gotten a hold of her arrow and managed to track her down. They offered her a spot on the Team she’d been observing. Artemis told them that yes, she’d join, but only if she didn’t have to reveal her past. She knew there was no way she’d be able to be a hero if everyone knew who her father was, and how she’d been brought up. Batman and the Green Arrow agreed, without pressing for details. And that was how, claiming that she was The Green Arrow’s “niece”, she joined the Young Justice team.
