So, before you start your contest, there are a few things you should know! These things will not only ensure that your contest runs smoothly, but that everything is fair for those entering your contests! Please be sure to read this whole guide carefully before you begin!
Rules
Steps to Running your Contest
Step One: Content! What is your contest going to be about? Is it a writing contest? A drawing contest? Try to keep your contests in the general theme of our site. Consider carefully if the content of your contest will attract player's interest as well. After all, if you don't have people to enter the contest, it's not much of a contest, is it?
Step Two: Title! Make sure your title makes sense and describes the contest in some way. "Come Here!" is not a good title, for example, but, "Valentines day writing contest" is much better, because it tells the reader the theme of your contest, as well as the medium.
Step Three: Rules! Make sure your specific about what is and isn't allowed in your contest! Tell people the requirements to enter! Does their piece have to include specific elements? A certain title? Do the characters have to be cannon? People won't know these things unless you tell them!
Step Four: Reward! Make sure you can come through on your reward! And remember, it doesn't have to just be things like Character Points! You can offer art to the winner, a story, a banner or an avatar... The options are endless! Again, just make sure you can come through! The better the prize, the more likely you are to attract players.
Rules
- Remember, no matter what the prize you offer for your contest, you must come through on it. That means if you offer CP, you have to give the winner of your contest that CP. If you offer a drawing or some sort of other prize, then you must come through with it as well. If you can't come through on your prize, then an amount of CP will be removed from your account to give to the winner of the contest, so make sure you can come through on your prize before you offer it.
- Judge your contests fairly. If the admins see that you are choosing specific winners just because they're you're friends, then they will instruct you to stop hosting contests. To avoid this problem, it's advisable that at the end of the contest, you state why that particular person was chosen as the winner.
- All contests must, of course, follow the general site rules.
- Please alert an admin and pitch your idea to them before you start your contest, particularly if it involves CP or DC, because an admin will have to transfer your points for you.
