//Basic Information
Played By: Stardust
Codename: Jay
Civilian Identity: Jason Zach Carwhile
Nicknames: Jay Bird, Kid
Gender: Male
//Description
Age: Eighteen
Apparent age: Sixteen
Hair: Short, unruly, jet-black
Eyes: Hazel.
Height and weight: 5"6 120 lbs. Short and thin, built lean but mean.
Appearance
Pale, with intense eyes, and just the right amount of shaggy to his hair. Not tall, and not short, he's thin at the wrists and waist but is built enough to show the wear and tear of his training. He looks young because of his height, and his seemingly thin frame, but his expression is nowhere near boyish. His eyes are almost always narrowed, and his brow is always wrinkled with thought. There's too much worry in his head for him to relax just yet.
Black domino mask covering only his eyes and outfit, mostly in dark blue and black. Fire proof cape. The material is dipped in a fire retardant substance that is light, and absorbs light so he can't reflect it when he's trying to sneak around. Communicator, utility belt, stacked well with Japanese-style weapons. His collapsible boe-staff is a favorite - it can get six feet long. He is well trained with the boe-staff and uses it best against foes who are larger and slower.
//Abilities: Meta and Natural
Meta Abilities
No Metahuman Abilities.
Natural Abilities
Higher than average intelligence / IQ. Takes advanced placement classes in all his core subjects, and works well with computers. Not a super-being in any sense, just quick to the draw.
As agile as a gymnast - he trains often, out at night working the baddies. All due to his old trainer back in France who drilled passion and perseverance into his skull forever, he's an over-achiever and strives for the best in everything, hence his constant training. Mostly karate, but with a mix of Taekwondo and Kinomichi.
Equipment:
His cape can let him glide from tall heights; when strained out in separate directions with his arms, thin strips of metal broken up into pieces come together and become stiff, instead of their usual flowing separation. They're sewn into the hem of the cape to allow it to support his weight when he glides.
The material is dipped in a fire retardant substance that is light, and absorbs light so he can't reflect it when he's trying to sneak around.
His utility belt has a tracker in it, in case he gets captured. He has a collection of throwing knives, stars, kai, and a boe staff he loves, all in his belt compartments, as well as a series of smoke bombs, a grappling hook and a tranquilizer gun.
His boots have substantial traction on any surfaces, which also allows him to climb and scale easier, but are light and silent.
Origin of Abilities:
His parents were big mobsters in France. They hired a Russian adapted in many forms of Japanese and French martial arts, and trained Jay long and hard from age 9 to age 14 to take care of himself, even if he had bodyguards put on his 24/7. Rely on no one, only yourself, they told him, and when their company went over that's just what he did.
//Weaknesses
Jay is terrified of gun fire. Back when he was little, someone tried to get to his father by killing him, and he still remembers today how it felt to have a bullet go straight through his upper right arm. He went though years of physical therapy to help it heal, and though its as good as it'll ever be, it still gives him trouble when he trains too hard with that arm. He never uses guns and disarms anyone wielding them immediately.
//Personalty
He holds himself withdrawn, but upright, and has the appearance of being very proud of his posture. He is a guy of many tastes. Because his parents used to leave him to his trainer and his cousins when he was younger, and never gave him any spare attention save for a new pocket knife on his birthday, he became comfortable extracting attention from other sources. His trainer became more of a father than his own father did, and though he wasn't close to any of his cousins, he did go to an all-boys private school.
That meant that although he spent most of his time flirting around the locker room, when the guys took a trip to the lake flanked by his body guards, they still picked up women. It was loose and not really thought about back in France - but when he arrived in America, he was too traumatized at first to relax enough to integrate romantically with his peers, and by the time he was ready to their culture differences had rubbed off on him. He still hasn't decided what he'll do romantically, and has yet to tell anyone of said dilema.
Jay is loyal until death. There isn't much you can get out of him - once he's sworn to secrecy, it'll take a lot more than death to pry it from him. He will back you in any fight, and go back for your sorry butt in any battle, even one of his own. Even if it starts going against his morals, he will back you with as much trust as he thinks you deserve.
He has a horrible temper. If you get him mad at you, be prepared for a cold shoulder or a chew-out, because he puts up with zero BS, especially when it comes to you talking about him.
//Background
Jason was born to a very, very wealthy family in France. His parents had been told often that they'd never have children, so they tried just about everything to get an heir. The Carwhiles were a criminal family - the father saved some people, loaned to some men, and owned the city of Paris by legal and illegal means. His mother knew everyone and everything that went on around her, and with her husband's power she did anything she wanted to whoever she chose. You would not want to get on the bad side of this family. They were a large and expanse relation. Jay's mother had two brothers, Jay's father had four. They all took similar criminal roles in the Carwhile industry. Bodyguards everywhere, high standard security systems, the works. But the main heads of the industry couldn't have kids. They went artificial, even got a carrier, and still nothing worked. A few years later, when the brothers and sisters of Jay's parents were starting to have kids to go for the head of the family, Jay's mother got pregnant.
They tried for a few more children to be sure their blood line stayed in control, but no more came to the powerful couple. Jay grew up trained, and not loved, so he didn't get spoiled, but he was a quiet child be nature so he didn't miss having siblings. He was always occupying himself with training, or studying, or otherwise, and rarely got lonely. Saying that, it's obvious that Jay grew up with all his cousins as an only child in his own family... the lone heir to the criminal empire his parents had built. They competed against him until he was exhausted, trying to prove themselves better for the job of ruling after their uncle and aunt - and Jay couldn't have agreed more. He wanted so badly to be normal, and get out of the crazy race into madness, and have a normal life. So obviously when his parents were assassinated, he ran for cover.
No one knows much about what happened within the walls of the Carwhile home. All that was told was there was a flood of Carwhile relatives fighting for control, and sooner or later they killed themselves off until there were only two cousins of Jay's left to run it all. They picked up the pieces and started from scratch - and Jay? He left at 16 that very year. With a fake ID, he took all the bonds his parents had saved up for him, and half of their savings in cash by signing his father's signature on all the paper work. Since he was their heir, and their deaths hadn't been broadcasted at that point, no one questioned his legitimacy when he took half their money and walked out. Fear held everyone back when it came to the Carwhiles. He took the small fortune and ran to America, hiding in Connecticut for most of his life. Claiming to be orphaned, he put his age as eighteen on everything and named an orphanage he'd passed by driving around Paris as a child. Then he neatly forged a letter of recommendation from the manager of the orphanage and the small high school accepted him. Soon, he was integrated into society, and though he's still scarred from his old life, he's prepared to put everything behind him. All the competition when he was little and seeing how unfeeling his parents were drove him to crack down on criminals; he knew they hurt people, and they could care less, and that drove him nuts. So he tries to stop anyone from becoming as powerful or as numb as his parents. So, he decided to dedicate his life to being a hero.
//Known Enemies
Emile and Ruther Carwhile, his cousins. They still run Jason's parents' industry now, both his age, and track him endlessly looking to cut off the final head of the old tyranny. Jason doesn't hate them - they're like siblings he wish he didn't have to avoid, but he got dealt a hand in life that made sure he had to, and he spends his days ducking from their prying eyes. Lately, their search has slackened, since they realized he doesn't intend to try and retake power, but they still remain tense enemies.
