This sucked.
This sucked more than that chick flick Jolt was forced to watch with his brother. That sucker promised there would be hot chicks there looking for a shoulder to cry on at that movie. Lies. All lies.
But here they were in an even worse situation, their father had recently gotten a small cut from his salary due to "troublesome children". Past failures with missions were not making the higher ups of CADMUS pleased in the slightest. Failure to catch two specimens in specific as well as a terrible mishap with two heroines just about a month before. Now they were ordered to find more recruits for additional help because the staff assumed the boys had no ability to handle themselves. This was the last thing either of them wanted to do.
Both of them were now sitting upon the roof of an apartment building, the weather had a heavy and almost disgusting haze underneath the heavy gloom. Man, this was worse than Gotham. Jolt kicked over a nearby cardboard box in his seething irritation.
"This isn't fair! We already have enough to worry about! We need to continue helping Lobo with that bounty so we can finally get some capture missions done! And we need to freakin' find where that STUPID old man put that STUPID dragon and help Robin finish finding that STUPID culprit in Metropolis! We don't have time to find some stupid recruits!" he shouted in pure unadulterated teenage angst. He was frustrated, tired and pretty sure it was going to rain. His brother rubbed his temples as he looked over the edge of the small cement edge of the building. He sighed.
"Look, I know this Zach. But, the faster we get this done, and the faster we obtain case eight from the Xenix Genetist Center, the faster we can get back to that," he grumbled "now shut up and help me keep a look out. All we need is someone with potential that we can throw in spandex. That's it."
His brother complied in a reluctant fashion and stared upon the array of rooftops and lit up buildings, secretly counting every red car he spotted.
Yup. This was going to be the longest day in existance.

(OOC: Not sure if I'm supposed to jump in like this, but I might as well! ) This. Was. Awesome. Using parkour to get around the city nonstop was clearly the most entertaining way to get his goals accomplished. Moreover, it was faster too. Seth wonders why he hadn't thought to do this earlier. Seriously, it was a very stupid move on his part. Quickly, with no hesitation, despite knowing that this move would damage his weak bones, Seth jumped off of a nearby roof, and managed to land on the edge successfully. "YES! This is the best damn idea I've ever ha--" When he opened his eyes in the middle of his outburst, he realized that there were two boys sitting nearby on the roof, looking at him with confused and disapproving stares. At the same time, the adrenaline wore off in Seth's body, and he realized that one of his ankles had been very badly injured in the landing. Ah, well. He thought. It'll heal. Besides, it's not like I care what some random teenagers in spandex think of me.

What the hell is that insufferable, brain damaged man think he's doing? Well whatever he was doing, this man with the ridiculous haircut caught the attention of both Jolt and Shockwave. Shockwave could have sworn something was off about his ankle, he was about to start looking for more important matters but his brother's short attention span was already piqued. "Why is my brother so stupid again? Oh right, he was probably the child that was dropped constantly with extreme passion." the elder thought as his younger twin dashed forward toward the edge of the building closest to Seth. The boy energetically called out, seeing an escape to his boredom. After all, this guy could jump, if they could recruit this one man then they could get back to the matters that actually did matter. Leaning childishly over the edge of the building, Jolt hollered out. He loved sports, parkour and many other dangerous sports. He took participation himself in them often, even though his disapproving brother usually forced him out. He waved his arms frantically trying to gain Seth's attention. He could do flips and stuff, why this is the exact kind of guy that he felt they could easily recruit. "Hey, spikes," he hollered "you do parkour?" Jolt ignored the enormous ammount of rage his brother was spewing out, this was important.

A young boy started hollering out to Seth on the rooftop. Seth hadn't talked to anyone aside from himself for about a year or so at the time, and the worry was getting to him, despite himself. This was mostly because last time he hadn't talked to anyone for this long, he had completely lost his voice and didn't even know it. The situation ended up with him writing on a whiteboard to talk to people, which made him feel like a cheap park mascot or something. It irritated him just to remember it.
"Y-yes, I started it recently," He yelled back, trying to shake the anger that he'd given himself. "What's it to ya, kid?"
Seth walked closer and started to size up the kid wordlessly. He was obviously the younger of the two children, and the one with more energy. Of course, they didn't seem exactly much of a threat, or much fun to mess with, so already, Seth was becoming rather bored. Still, he had no plans for today, other than possibly eating something later, so whilst he waited for his ankle to heal, he decided that he might as well see what they boys wanted out of him.

"You wanna join us on a super secret mission!" the brunette cheerfully shouted, his brother quickly smacking him upside the head with enough force to topple him over.
"You are probably the most unintelligent primate in existance, and for the time being, I refuse to call you my brother," Shockwave snarled with utter annoyance "you don't tell some random parkourist about a confidential mission at the top of your lungs. In New York of all places." The elder had a point; they just so happened to be in one of the most populated cities in America. Yet mid-rant, he looked over to his brother again.
It just so happened that his younger brother, franky didn't really care and was using a nearby ladder to create a makeshift bridge between the two buildings.

A rather small girl had been watching from another roof top for quite awhile. She shook her head at the one boy's stupidity. Shouting out your plans in New York was rather stupid considering the mass amount of people that could hear you and catch onto your plan. The brunette pushed her hair out of her face and turned to look towards another figure standing behind her. She tried not to wince at the scars on his face, but failed.
"What do you think Deis?" she asked curiously. "Do you think we should talk to them?" "What if they're supervillains?" the boy answered nervously. "It could be risky."
The brunette's brown eyes looked over the boy behind her. He had to be about nineteen years old from his appearance. The only reason she was speaking to him was because he'd happened to save her from some thug. He hadn't told her much, except that his name was Deis. She sensed his unwillingness to trust from the start and thought he'd make a good friend. However, he was somewhat cold and distant from her, never standing less than ten feet away from her. She was curious as to why that was though. Mockingbird shrugged and said, "I'm going whether you like it or not."
The sixteen year old yearned to grab her shoulder and smack some sense into the fourteen year old, but he didn't trust himself. Deis watched nervously as Mockingbird scaled down the one building and scaled up the other the man with the funny hairdo was on. He sighed and decided he'd better go after her. After all, he had no idea who these people were, and this girl didn't seem to be in her right mind. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if she got hurt, yet if he left now, there'd be a better chance she'd give up trying to be his pal and maybe he wouldn't set her on fire.

As Jolt trekked across his makeshift bridge, wobbling with each step, his brother noticed a presence nearby. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted two other teenagers. "Heck," he thought "might as well hire multiple people while I'm at it." He turned towards his brother and called out. "Hey, J. I'm going to talk to a few people, you give him the job description, rules, things of the sort. I'm sure you can at least handle that on your own." Being the over protective brother that he was, he was unsure of whether or not leaving his brother be was such a good idea, but it wasn't as if he'd be gone forever.
The teenager wasn't one to avoid the gym, so clambering a few vents and leaping across tightly packed buildings wasn't too much of a challenge. Soon the boy found himself a few yards away from the two. "You know, if you wanted to say hello, you could have just called out."
Meanwhile, the younger was examining Seth at an uncomfortably close distance. Looking closely at the elder man's coat and up at his unusually colored, amber eyes, the boy seemed intrigued.
"For a parkourist you don't eat a lot. How much gel do you use? Is that a spray tan? Cause the whole Jersey Shore thing, I was sure it was for girls... And my brother."

((OOC: Oh, wait, I was supposed to reply to this. Uh, well I'm back now, so..... ;D )) At the moment, Seth wasn't sure whether he wanted to step back from the boy or mirror his uncomfortably close movements, to see what his reaction would be. He also couldn't say he understood exactly what was being asked of him. Being tan could be sprayed on now? Wow, he had really not been paying attention to current technological developments. He didn't quite know what a "Jersey Shore" was either, but part of him was very ready to assume that it was something he'd rather not know about, for reasons he couldn't describe. With a shrug, he began to answer the boy's questions. "It depends... I don't tend to have access to hair gel very often. Or food. Not that I really need either of those things. I've been wandering for a long time. I've sort of lost track of exactly how long it's been, actually... I guess I picked up the tan in that time. Why do you really care about any of this?" Seth realized to the boy that probably sounded offensive, but he wasn't exactly that concerned by it. He genuinely couldn't understand how people cared about such little details about people. Maybe it was something that could only be understood by someone who hadn't lived long enough to see people pass by and blend together in their mind, but he had never been one to be skilled at or care about distinguishing one person from another. It simply wasn't his problem anymore. Finally, Seth found that his arm had started to heal from it's former damaged state. He smiled, and waited for the boy to respond.

(( OoC: Hiya~ care if I join? :3 ))
Jason liked to scale buildings. He felt very tall in his heroes attire, and looking down on the people he rescued by night and walked among by day, well, it made him feel like he was a hero. The saving part of it sometimes made him feel like he was a very small can of pesticide in a world of cockroaches who were immune - though he did save quite a few people on a regular basis - but on top of the world like this, always made him feel much more important.
He was old. Well, young, but in an old way; he was eighteen going on thirty, with hazel eyes that were always narrowed in thought, a brow constantly furrowed, and hair as black as night. His outfit was mostly dark blue - with a heavily hooded cape made for the cold (which he disliked, very strongly) and black, with long gloves, boots and a utility belt.
Strongly Robin in appearance, he had fashioned his hero garb himself - coming originally from Paris, France, he had heard little of the dynamic duo and their far-reaching history in Gotham, and so had no info to knock off them when he had decided to start saving people under the stars. Ignorance or not, he got a lot of bad rap from the locals, and was called 'Bird boy' by just about everyone who'd seen him more than once. Which only served to confuse him more... until he actually saw them in the paper. Imagine that culture shock.
Currently, the blue Jaybird perched in the shadow of a concrete rooftop door way, crouched on the worn siding overlooking the very busy street he visited so often. His gloved fingers dug into the cold stone-like material under his boots, and as he leaned out a bit more his dark bangs rippled across his forehead in the wind. He squinted. A shout rang out, and it sounded oddly close, so he swiveled his head until he found the source of the noise.
A pair of identical figures perched on a rooftop, similar to himself, were communicating with a man with something strange on his head. It looked awkward, and colorful, and then Jason realized that that must be the man's hair. He rose slowly, knees cracking as he did, and pulled his cloak around him more tightly as the wind curled in cold whispers against him. Another pair were scaling the twins' building as well - a female, and a boy that looked to be older than himself. Well. It looked like there were a lot of junior heroes out today.
In broad daylight, Jason mostly kept to rooftops and skylights, staying out of the limelight and out of trouble - unless there was a direct emergency - but he worked mostly at night, traveling all over, looking for a city where he could stake a claim and roam the streets prowling for vermin whenever he pleased. Since there seemed to be so many heroes here, he doubted this would be his final destination. But there was nothing against investigating peers. He took out his grapple hook and shot it at a window ledge to the shorter building beside the one attracting all the attention. The metal pinged loudly as it contacted with its goal, and, seeing as it was secure with a few tugs, Jason took a leap and swung across the busy street. Neatly, he bent his knees and bounced off the wall beside the window ledge, putting away the grapple and finishing the rest of the way to the top by himself. When he reached the roof, he dusted himself off and turned, searching for the other figures.
