" I'm giving up; I'm giving up s l o w l y I'm blending in so you don't even k n o w me. Apart from this whole w o r l d that shares my fate. " - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/b]ichard laughed as he heard Wally. "Awesome. I'll be in the cave." He nodded. " 'Aighte, Supey. See you guys when you get here." He shut his phone and set it aside, grabbing his pager and carefully climbing out of bed. So far, it had only been a couple hours, and Richie was feeling much better. He just couldn't stretch too much. Tossing on a pair of jeans and his green hoodie, he dug under a pile of comics for his shades and slid them on. His phone went into his pocket as well. Walking out into the hall, he looked around, running his fingers through his dark hair as he walked, a little pain in every step, but nothing he couldn't handle. He wandered around to the door to Bruce's study and opened it without thinking. The door creaked open, and the study was flooded with mid-morning sunlight. The rich red carpet helped soothe his steps as he strode in and shut the doors carefully behind him. Bruce had a meeting this morning, so he'd be out until late, and Robin and Wilfred had the place to themselves... along with about three maids. Rob made sure there were no sexy cleaning ladies in the study and none coming before he flipped the switch and a door opened behind the bookcase. Bruce had uninstalled the Bat poles years ago - pity, Rob thought. Robin walked downstairs, hearing the door shut behind him, and flicked a switch in a metal box on the wall by the base of the staircase. The entire place was flooded with light. It was expansive, and echoing, and the darkness beyond the florescents closed in like a nightmare. The Batmobile came up on its rotating floor, the computers all booted up, and the cases for their uniforms lit up, as did the ceiling. The floor was flooded with light. It suddenly went from a dark, damp bat dwelling to a brightly lit bat dwelling. Robin grinned and walked over to the computers, brushing his fingertips over the keyboard. So many memories... so many firewalls hacked. Ah, good stuff. His ribs had begun to ache, so he went to the metal cot under the streaming lights that Batman had used so often; to store toxin-ridden maidens, to stitch himself up after a bad fight... As Richard eased himself onto the cold metal, he looked up at the ceiling and sighed. It was amazing, the world they'd all walked into, as apprentices. Richard's ribs throbbed suddenly, and he yelped, doubling over with his hand over them. He stayed there, paused, breathing slowly, until the pain receded. Well, maybe he was out of bed a little early for a couple broken ribs. He sat there just trying not to move too much while he waited, converse swinging slightly about a foot of the floor. So he was short. So what? He heard the echo of a bat's screech and smiled. He had plenty of time to fill very, very big shoes. ((omg, those real coordinates had me fangirling real hard man! + dat RobxWally gif <3 ))
Wally's smile fell a little as he, with Connor's help, remembered the the others in top speed. Mach 3 was fast, not as fast as Wally normally would run, but still fast enough to not completely let the speedster outrun the clone. Stupid overconfident mouth, the teen speedster inwardly scolded himself before letting his face merge into it's usual easy, playful smile: He was still faster than superboy. No matter how hard the flying teen tried, Wally was KID FLASH and he would not let himself be out run. EVER. "I'll still race ya!" and with that he zoomed by M'gann towards the exit, yelling a 'baiseeyalaterbeautiful' over his shoulder.
A red and yellow blur entered Gotham minutes later, quickly finding his way through the familiar streets, barely noticing how much darker than Happy Harbor Gotham seemed, and how much nicer first mentioned smelled. He found himself at the meeting point, where Batman himself had agreed to pick them up. Tapping his foot quickly, he waited, unconsciously impatient.

Connor always enjoyed flying the most. It wasn't the super strength, the super hearing, or even the x-ray vision that let him look at girls' panties that he enjoyed, it was this. Seeing the ocean coastline pass under him always cleared his head entirely. No worries, no doubts, no anger, just the horizon. As he neared Gotham, however, he could feel the air and water change to the polluted gases and cesspools that surrounded the city. But now, rather than nature, he could admire architecture and infrastructure. The city was an amazing creation, comparable only to Metropolis in its complexity and functionality. Despite the high crime, the city still looked like it was ready to work all the time.
He slowed and looked at his communicator as he received the coordinates for the meeting point with Batman. Memorizing them in barely a second, he put the communicator back and zoomed on. He approached the mountains on the outer parts of the city, the more upper-crust, clean section, home to millionaires and billionaires. He lowered to the correct level, and looked for the spot. No doubt Wally would meet him there, if he wasn't there already, gloating at winning the race no one even started. He hovered to his feet, planting them firmly on the asphalt of the street, then looked around for where Wally was.
[[We'll just insert here that Batman picks them up, takes them to the Batcave, blindfolded, and tells Robin to open the door.]]

But he quickly cleared his throat and pressed the signal to the door from his phone. The Batmobile exit//entrance slid open with a satisfying snap, groaning from old age, but still efficient and secret as always. Robin waved to them from the metal cot he remained sitting on. "Hey, guys, over here!" The motion made his ribs ache, so he lowered his arm and rested it over his lap, sighing. He smiled sheepishly. "I suppose it was a bit early to be dragging my sorry butt out of bed, but a guy can't stay stagnant forever."Motioning to the entire cave, the lights and whirs, the shining Batmobile and the computer he loved so much. Everything was in perfect order, perfect neatness. "What do you think, Supes? Cool, isn't it?" He grinned. "Just do me a favor, and treat everything like its an artifact. If you do pick it up and turn it around, please, please be delicate. Absolutely anything breaks or doesn't work when we need it to, and the Bat will stake me up on a cross and crucify me." He made a slash motion across his neck and stuck out his tongue. This place was ancient, but everything had been upgraded to keep up with times and rust, ect. ect. ect., and now it was the functioning Batcave it had always been. ((I Love them! all of them actually! you.. you would?! duuudeeee, that huge man! we could do a trade! I'd totally trade for a request. any drawing of your choice, for a wally gif for my icon ~ if.. you want to that is ^^)) Slowing down as he entered the cave, Wally waved at Robin, sitting in his usual YJ-civvies including the glasses. He'd never liked those glasses. Wally looked over his shoulder to see Superboy landing, a smile cleeping over his face as he tasted the sweet taste of victory. "Nice try Supey, you did well" He listened to Robin's usual warning about not touching anything too much, Wally knew it too well, he'd heard it about 1000 times in different versions both from Berry when working together with the bats, and from the bird boy himself when just visiting. "He's serious SB, the big Bat is as hard on Robin as he is scary to crooks, when it comes to stuff like this." He made a face at Connor before turning to Robin, slinging an arm over his shoulder, "Don't worry too much though, Robs, I'll run you out of here before he can catch you"

Connor rolled his eyes as Wally boasted, though it was hidden behind his sunglasses. He walked inside, slowly pulling the glasses off to get a good look around. It was stunningly huge. He couldn't even see the cave ceiling. His mouth even fell a bit agate with the size of it all. He could hear the humming of all the machines, hard at work monitoring Gotham. It certainly reflected the busy vigilante that used all of it. He walked over to the metal cot as Wally wrapped his arm around Robin. Connor briefly said, "Careful." Reminding Wally that Robin was, in fact, injured. Even though he was technically the youngest, Connor often felt like he was the oldest, and the one responsible for these two clowns in particular.
"I'll be sure to leave everything as it is now, then." He shrugged, eyes still fixed on his surroundings. "How do you work here? It's so... empty." Empty, but crowded at the same time. It was an odd sensation. Maybe it was just because he couldn't see anything beyond the cave walls. It felt pretty shut in for him. "No offense, but this place is pretty creepy. Cool, but creepy." He spotted a hypoallergenic, glass cell. No doubt, this was used to keep Poison Ivy and other gas based criminals secure. "High-tech... but still creepy."

" I'm giving up; I'm giving up s l o w l y I'm blending in so you don't even k n o w me. Apart from this whole w o r l d that shares my fate. " - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/b]ichard smiled as his friends entered. It was all well and good to be in the famous Batcave, but it was even better showing it off to people - especially if those people could give you company in such a big, creepy place. As he watched Wally brag, and Supey roll his eyes, he cracked a grin. "Wally gets zero cred; he's been here a million times," he prodded his friend good naturedly. After all, somebody had to poke that ego of his back to normal every now and then. Robin was thankful for Wally's backing up his 'no-touchy' policy in the cave, but as the boy's arm landed around his shoulders, the jolt from his shoulders down did some damage. Connor's 'careful' was, unfortunately, a smidgen too late. Rob bit back a yelp and sat bent over for a second, waiting for the pain to fade. He bit into his lip so hard he drew blood, and when the pain was gone, he looked slowly up at Wally with malice in his twisted grin. " 'Preciate it. Do that again, and you'll wake up in the morning with two stumps where your legs used to be." He hissed. "I have a long way to go before I can even walk straight. No-touchy me as well as the cave would be appreciated."He looked up as Connor asked about working here and he just shrugged, barely, conserving his momentary achiness. "It's a lonely business. Bats grew into it for a couple decades, and now its my turn, I suppose. You get used to the echoing and the bats after a few months. Then you get used to being alone a couple years later." He cast his eyes around. He remembered, firstly, being brought into the mansion itself. It was almost as stunningly ginormous as this place was. Fine, wealthy, yet cozy. It had been a strange experience. Now, being let down here after his apprenticeship was to begin, that was an entire other story. This place had housed his many, many, many injuries, a couple teenage tantrums( still going on now.. actually.. ) and a lot of memories overall that were burned very brightly into Robin's head. He smiled at last. "It's a lonely business," he repeated, sitting up slowly and easing the pressure off his ribs with an exhale. [/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul][/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - " I'm begging you to be m y escape. ((Anything for you, bro! :DD I DO have a period of coloring practice atm so that'd just be amazing and stuff! )) Wally matched Robin's yelp as the younger bent over in pain, instantly releasing him his eyes wide in shock. "Dangit! Robin I'm so sorry! Dude seriously, I'm so sorry I totally forgot, are you okay? should I grab some painkillers? Aw man Sorr-" He was cut short by Robin's grin, a lump forming in his throat as the small raven threatened him. No matter how little the athlete meant it, with a look like that, reminding Wally of Batman, there was no way that he could not take a few steps, backing away from Robin, eyes still wide with surprise. "sorry.." it was barely above a whisper. And with that the red head zipped further into the cave, skidded to a halt by the cabinet which he knew contained the painkillers, grabbed 3, fetched a glass of water, and headed back to Robin holding it out to Robin. He didn't say anything. He was currently busy mentally beating himself up for hurting his friend. His BEST friend. God! He was so stupid! Why hadn't he thought of that? Robin didn't superheal, he wasn't a meta human, he was just normal. Gah! Stupid touchy-feely personality! "I'm sorry...." it was nothing but a murmur, said in the direction if his dirt covered red boots.

A lonely business. Was it really? There were plenty of other heroes in Gotham, but Batman chose to be alone. He often looked down upon meta-humans, whether he was outward about it or not. There was just the hint of something in his eye. A hint of disapproval. A hint of the feeling that meta humans could snap at any moment. It was a lack of trust. Conner never took it too personally. It was Batman's choice, and Batman's choice alone to alienate everyone. Be his own little king in his own little kingdom.
Conner watched with growing concern and confusion as Wally shrank from his usual, cocky attitude. He seemed truly nervous about Robin's reaction. When he sped away, even for the brief moment he was gone, Conner managed to meet Robin's eyes with a look that said, 'Did you say something wrong?' When Wally returned with the pills and offered his meek apology, Conner kept a quiet watch from behind, waiting for Robin's response to the situation.

" I'm giving up; I'm giving up s l o w l y I'm blending in so you don't even k n o w me. Apart from this whole w o r l d that shares my fate. " - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/b]ichard only got a breath of Wally's apologies before he'd grinned, and the look his best friend gave him made said grain fade very quickly. The red head even backed away from him like he was scary. Richard felt strange about this reaction; he didn't like the idea of backing Wally away at all, but he was more confused on why he had. He wasn't all that scary, was he? I mean he was only thirteen. How close to the Bat's expression could he possibly be? With the space between him and his best friend, he guessed very, very close. When the Kid whispered another apology, Richard just sat there, mute. What could he say? A joke had turned into intimidation, and there was only one reason that could be. When Wally darted away, Robin caught Superboy's eye, and even with his sunglasses he managed a surprised look and a slight shrug of his shoulders. He hadn't done anything on purpose - maybe that was the frightening thing here. He'd been as scary as Bruce without any extra effort. But the concept gave him chills. He rubbed his elbow as Wally appeared back in front of him, "Hey look, man, its cool," Richard replied openly, accepting the three Vikadin and the water, "really. I just got a bit jolted - I passed up my last dosage time, so its mostly my fault." He admitted. Richard hated drugs. All drugs. Morphine and heroine and Vikadin were all addictive - if you spent too much time on any of them, you were hooked, and not in a good way. Some more than others. He'd seen far too many druggies ruin their lives over chemicals in capsules, or needles full of liquid hell, so, he naturally had a dislike for anything considering meds. "Don't beat yourself up, Walls." He swallowed two of the three and pocketed the last one, finishing half the glass of water. Wiping his lip on his sleeve, he set the glass aside, and gave Wally a real grin. "Just because you beat me up doesn't mean we can't still be friends." He tried to laugh this off as easily as he could without being completely ignorant to Wally's reaction; this was not an easy thing to do. As Robin took the Vikadin, Wally felt the guild disappear as fast as Barry whenever Iris was throwing a PMS-fit, and he found himself flashing Robin a grin which quickly morphed into a frown as the younger spoke. "Robs! Take your meds! Always take the meds! Or I might accidentally hurt you again!" Throwing his arms in the air Wally huffed in displeasure at Robin's lack of faith in his doctors. Why couldn't he just trust them not to make him a drug addict? Seriously, Robin had Batman watching over him for science's sake! And then again, Wally could see what Robin meant. Drug addiction was not a pretty thing; they all knew that too well after years of fighting for clean streets, by destroying factories, breaking down sales and taking down the lords.
Wally sank down next to Robin, as the young protégé of Batman tried to lighten his mood further with their usual joking. Wally let a smirk creep over his features, playing along as he always did. "Don't worry birdie, I won't leave you alone even if you tell me to. You're stuck with me forever bro." shifting his gaze to Superboy, voice serious but still happy as he continued. "Actually, you all are. The team I mean. You're stuck with me... We're friends." Wally added the last part as if it explained everything, because it did to him. He smiled at them. It was true, they were friends. To Wally, his friends meant everything. He could trust them with everything, including his Kid Flash/Wally West secret, family problems, sidekick problems, videogame problems, oh yeah, and his LIFE, which was kind of a big deal. The science geek wasn't used to having friends, despite his attitude saying otherwise, the happy-go-lucky goofy Wally, Joung Justice knew had on a whim survived the hardships of bullying, having over the years morphed from his overall persona, into his defense mechanism, his way of coping with the lame but hurtful name-calling.
He didn't mind anymore, he knew he was better than them in some way. He was KID FLASH now! He was good at things and now he had friends who supported him. Now he was happy and he owed it all to those supporting friends. Sappy? Yes. True? Heck Yes! And that was all that mattered to Wally. If they ever got hurt for real, any of them, even Artemis, he wouldn't know what he would do. They meant too much to him.

Connor watched with mid bemusement. He was still getting used to the idea of actually having friends. Sure, he always had a friendly face ready for anyone he met, but he had never really gotten close to anyone. Kid Flash and Robin seemed different. Wally was always so open and playful; he cheered him up whenever he so much as frowned. Robin was smart and understanding, and always had an ear available to listen.
Connor rubbed his neck awkwardly, almost as if he was trying to massage away the unusual feelings of camaraderie. He tucked his hands back into his leather jacket pockets and smirked, though it seemed just a bit confused and hollow. "Well, that's good to know." He laughed slightly. "I'm pretty sure it's a good thing to have friends in a team and not enemies." He turned around casually to look at the cave again, mostly to hide the fact that he didn't quite know how to handle the awkwardly sweet moment.

" I'm giving up; I'm giving up s l o w l y I'm blending in so you don't even k n o w me. Apart from this whole w o r l d that shares my fate. " - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [/b]ichard winced as Wally yelled at him, shrugging it off, and wincing yet again at the pain that brought. "I can't help it. I didn't say it was a rational fear." He really couldn't help it; there was something oddly unsettling about not feeling pain. Being completely numb. It scared him, like he wasn't living, just a rag doll. So he tried to keep the dosage to half so he could feel jarred at times and know he was still alive. It gave him shudders just thinking about numbness. Richard smiled at Wally as he sat beside him and grinned. "I wouldn't have it any other way," he informed him, "you're more like my brother than my friend, though." He smiled brightly. Wally had a difficult time getting where he was today, like they all had - and no matter how their stories differed, it was the pain that had made them all who they were today, and what brought them all together in the end. The suffering, the hard work, the accomplishments, the training, and the triumph. Where they were now was the triumph. The red head with the sun-blinding smile and the knack for fun, the warm dark-haired super kid with the calm eyes, the martian girl with an innocent air, and the dark skinned fish boy with the kind-older-brother power over them all. Yup. They made quite the team, didn't they? "Just do me a favor, Walls? Don't ever stop being a dork. Then I'd run out of ways to make fun of you." He teased. As an only child with an only guardian, Robin had welcomed the prospect of the immature yet older brother in Wally that made them such good friends. That wasn't going to change any time soon. Kid Flash watched as Connor's face adopted a smirk only with the shadow of his usual confidence and flashed the Kid a smile of his own. Wally knew how new the whole friendship thing was to Connor, and he had promised himself that he would never let Superboy doubt that the team would, or at least Wally would be there to help him with whatever he needed help with.
He looked at Robin from the corner of his eyes as the boy wonder started to speak, his smile widening. Robin and him had really grown from just friends to something deeper. Robin was his BEST friend, no more than that really. Robin was his bro. He could trust Robin with everything. He could count on Robin. Just as Robin could count on him.
Wally resisted the urge to punch his younger friend in the arm at the last remark from the boy. Instead Wally winked at him. "Dude, never, I'm the dork of your life and you love it." Wally folded his hands over the left side of his chest, forming a heart. "As I said, you're stuck with me."
