Name: Dawn
Age: 45? (my memory continues to skip like a badly scratch CD. I say vinyl record but I run the risk nowadays of being stared at)
Race: unbelievably Gringo. I like fish on my pizza
Living: Albuquerque NM
Hometown: East Rutherford NJ (see? Gringo)
Years Playing: Actually since high school, when we used to run our characters during the 45 minute ride on the school bus, back when D&D was just dice, books, and graph paper. We did it freestyle. No dice. No books. No paper. We kept track in our heads.
Who knew I was setting a trend?
Then I joined the computer revolution with the now defunct CompuServe and found a few forums there. When AOL snagged ‘em, I began gaming there. That where I met Seth and Eric and the rest of the adjoining worlds. From there was a matter of how long could we play in a room before we drove the others out. (I have Never been ejected from a room… ever.. normally everyone else leaves)
Status: happily married 11 years now. James is the Only person I do not want to kill. He is the referee in our household, keeping myself and my mother from rending each other in twain.
Job: currently nighttime dispatcher/CSR for a local/national/international warehousing firm (pending on which phone number you call) I tried teaching, but talking about that just opens up a can of worms and sends me running for a bottle of Maalox. I Did sling pizzas for this likes of Pizza Hut, Amadeos, and Godfathers while going through college.
And to think I’ve got a degree in English (and can’t do a damn thing with it)
Hair: dark brown, with strands of grey and silver mixed in
Eyes: Brown
Skin: A few shades darker than Beluga Whale white. I have Lupus, which means that sunlight and I are no longer friends. Thus the job at night. I just need to find a better state to live in.
Build: I’m not getting fat, I AM fat. Atkins made the most noticeable dent, but once I fell of that bandwagon, I couldn’t catch up to the cart to get back on it.
Hobbies: This gets interesting as there are several categories that take up wondrous amounts of time
Comic books: This has accumulated into nearly a $5,000.00 collection that sits in boxes out in the garage and is trotted out for comic book conventions every now and then. I also do the justice league rpg (); playing Lobo, Killer Croc, Mr Mxyptlk, Juggernaut, Rogue, Pete Wisdom and this poor old Italian cook Renne’ that’s the lead chef for a lounge the Penguin owns. Notice the lack of good guys in that lineup folks.
SCA: the Society for Creative Anachronism. www.sca.org/ In essence, its pretty much guys that dress up in armor and beat each other with sticks. Not as ornate as other Medieval Renaissance groups; you can drink soda, just do so out of a mug. In the Society, I’m Aurora Del Mar (damn, that name gets a lot of mileage, don’t it?); Proprietress of the Albino Gekko Coffee House and Gaming Parlour. cptdragon.freeservers.com/custom2.html The coffee house has evolved from a tarp and a carpet to a $1,100.00 authentic looking pavilion. Like I said, I get involved.
The Farm:cptdragon.freeservers.com/The%20Zoo.htm Only mention because From the garden I have State Fair winning entries from fruits and veggies to Delaware chickens to medal winning wine and beer. Yeah, I home brew.
Also intertwined in here are the reptiles. Though I currently be “reptile poor” I still have people stopping me on the street and calling me “Lizard Lady”, the handle I used when I was during reptile tours for the local schools. I can still appreciate a decent sized monitor lizard though. Someday I’ll convert that fish tank back into a terrarium when my mother ain’t looking.
Interests run the same gamut.http://cptdragon.freeservers.com/addictions.htm If you look at my shelves this is what you skip across Sci fi, Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi (Evil Dead compendium, signed)), History channel (Mailcall), MST3K, Discovery Channel, Lobo (DC comics), Godzilla, Undertaker, Hellboy, Alan Rickman (Snape), Adult Swim (cartoon network), Doc Ock (movie version), Borg, Daleks (new), Knights (these neat German reproductions), Dragons, Q….
… yep.. that bad boy theme just comes shining through, don’t it?
As to my game itself? Aurora and her brood have matured, evolved, been reinvented, and spawned into a strange conglomerate of inconsistencies, made even more inconsistent as my memory slips away. Much of their exploits on AOL over the years has been posted on the website, and if you’re interested in an exotic read in need of severe editing, I’ve got them all on CD in their non-condensed glory delmarandfriendsrpg.invisionzone.com/
So what stops me from turning this over into an interstellar reading success and subsequential movie deal? Look at those supporting characters. If I had to pay a nickel to every character I lifted from book, tv, movie, or pop-culture reference, I’d go broke in publication.
Someday, when I’m old, grey, and bored….
Yeah… right…
(So why my high school picture?
1) I haven't changed in over 25 years
2) if you stare long enough at the eyes, you'll realize I'm nuts)
